    Mikey's BBS RS build

Whats up R3V. In the process of building a set of 16" BBS RS for my '88 325. Found a set of RS180's at RBwheels up in LaPuenta, had them redrilled and filled to 4x100 and had the centers powdercoated silver.

The wheels originaly were 16"x 7.5" +14 (5.5" inner barrel, 1.5"lip). Not feeling the 1.5" lips, I purchased 3 a pair of 3" and a pair of 4" lips from Tunershop. Also purchased all new chrome hardware from Tunershop. The centercaps were beat, so new BBS black and silver caps were purchased through Black Forest Industries. So far have the centers done, lips ready. Refinishing the innerbarrels tomorrow.

    Check out the pics.

    Centers and caps

    Powdercoat, nice job

    Back of centers

RS180's, good close up of the fill

    Close up of the halfcaps

    All 4 caps

    YUM

    Thanks BFI

    Legit

    3" lips

    4" lips

You can clearly see the height difference

    Caps in.

Cap polish came out great, they almost look new.

    Mock up of all 4

Thats its for now, inner barrels tomorrow. These barrels are BEAT. I'll post pics of the progress.

Nice but I hope you have a good fender roller. I have 16x9 et10 and 16x10 et10 and I'm pretty borderline (with rolled rear fenders).

          If I'm right yours gonna be 16x9 et-5 and 16x10 et-18.

I think your front wheels can fit...

...but your rear wheels gonna be a little bit tricky to fit. They're 1'' wider than mine, it's crazy !!! :)

Isn't he at 10.5 front and 11.5 rear? They started at 7.5.

Start with 7.5, remove 1.5 (stock lips) = 6 + the new lips.

Thanks homie! I've been lurking on your build thread, super sick! Yea i havent measured yet with the barrels, but.. :
5.5 inner barrel, + 4" lip = 9.5", then you have to account for the center which is about 3/4" thick.. should be about 10"wide in the rear.

Im planning having "Tony" roll my fenders. he has an E30 and his work looks great.

                    Yup it's 5.5'' inner barrel + 0.5'' center piece + 4'' lips = 10''

Wait, so what's your offset going to be in the rear?

                          Looks good.

Heres some shots of the inner barrels, tools I'll use to strip them and a mock up of the wheel all put together.

Heres the barrels, pretty ugly, but nothing too extreme.

                              Barrel 1

                              Barrel 2

                              Barrel 3

                              Barrel 4

Aircraft Remover. This stuff works great. 2-3 coats to remove ALL paint. The plasitc scrapers are ok, but the aircraft remover eats through them after a while.

*Do not use nitrile gloves. No protection against the aircraft remover* (eats through them quickly and burns your skin nicely)

I just brushed the aircraft remover on generously, let stand for about 10 minutes, and scraped off. I reccomend a scuff pad of some kind to assist in removal.

Complete rear mockup. Nice and wide!!

                              Face. Getting there..

Taking my time with this build. Barrels should be stripped and painted by friday, will post more progress.
