    Just a little project

Generally don't show off what's done at the shop, but am very pleased the way this came out since it was thrown together in a couple days :)

Customer came in with an ebay manifold, simply told him it wouldn't work, didn't feel like hacking it up and trying to weld it back together on a $150 unit, so I sold him a TD manifold using MonkeyMadness' adapters and made and adapter for the Holset HX35 clone using stuff I had around the shop.

Started with some box steel that had to be sectioned to fit the t3 flanges and sone sch10 SS els for the WG location...

Thought about keeping it divided but he's on a budget and took a big hit since I had to re-wire his body harness...

Then welded the WG flange on the DP and welded some v-band clamps as well...

    and fitment...

Don't laugh at the fill welds on the WG tube into the DP, the closest hole-saw I had to the 1.25" weld els was a tad too big and it ain't easy filling with a TIG lol.

Nice thing about this setup is you can remove the DP v-band, the 4 lower t3 flange bolts, oil lines and this comes out as a complete unit in minutes.

Very nice sir. Couple of questions. Was the extension piece needed in order for the turbo to clear the head or was it simply to add a wastegate port? Why did you not feel comfortable using the EGR valve port instead or was it a rare non egr manifold?

The wastegate provided didn't directly bolt to the TD WG port and wouldn't leave as much room for the 3" DP. Any compressor larger than a t3 .50 A/R won't clear the valve cover, even a small t3 makes the plug wires a pain to keep from melting and plug changes a pain.

Thumbs up for the ebay copy of Holset HX35. Let's see it's longevity. 30lb/hr injectors are holding 9psi guage pressure, but definitely are on the small side.

Well then its a good thing I plan on using it with a butt plug turbo. Will be very similar to the warbirds original setup. Same turbo but with TCD chip and injectors and an external wastegate. Should be ok for 10psi I reckon.
