    Non-carpet dash mat

Does anybody make a dash mat not made out of carpet? Not the $100 plastic cover. Just a mat, just not carpet.

I've never understood the point of these, they're hideous. Is there some hidden perk to having one?

Maybe so the dash doesnt get faded from the sun? Not worth it in my opinion

It protects the dash from direct exposure to UV rays, which dry out the dash and cause it to crack.

In other words, it helps your dash last much longer than it would, otherwise.

meh, I'd rather my dash look good for 20 years and crack, then spend my money to see an ugly dash mat instead of my dash for those 20 years.

Well mine is all cracked up now and I'm tired of looking at it. Don't really feel like installing a whole dash. Thanks for the link GCMARK. I'll look into that.

It also keeps down glare off of the dashboard. I know a lot of the track people use them.
