JUST A QUICK NOTE TO SAY THAT THIS CAR IS SOLD. New owner's name is Derek and I've encouraged him to become a member here. Thanks everyone!!
Please forgive the copy paste from Craigslist but I'm feeling lazy right now. I'm asking $4,850
It's been really hard finding the motivation to sit down and write this advertisement as I really don't want to sell this car. I've owned it for 5 years (approx. 55,000 miles) and used it as my daily driver than entire time. Unfortunatley I've now got too many cars (and projects) so it's time to move on, just very reluctantly...
So let me tell you a little about the car. It's a later e30 body style with the plastic bumpers (not the metal diving boards), 2 door coupe with a sunroof, black exterior, black interior, and 5spd manual transimission. It's extremely clean, from 2 non-smokers, and in great shape with clean CarFax and AutoCheck. Like any 22 years old cars with 197,000 miles, it has it's areas that could use a little attention, but on this car, they are mechanical and not cosmetic for the most part. I'm the 2nd owner of the car, the first lived in San Francisco and had the car repainted not long before I bought it. He said that after years of turning in bumps & bruises to the insurance company, he decided to have the entire car repainted. For those of you aficionados, technically the car was Diamantschwarz Metallic and when it was repainted he went for more of a Jet Black (by today's BMW color standards). I peronally think it looks better than the original factory color although the difference is subtle (I can show you in person when you come to look at the car).
Interior is very close to spotless and the seats are in fantastic condition - no real signs of wear and no rips or tears - hard to believe it's original and 22 years old. I think everything electrical works and the only modification is that it has a newer aftermarket stereo with CD and iPod input. The dash is not cracked like so many out there. There are few other items of interest inside the car. The rear ashtray is still in one piece and isn't cracked like 90% of them out there. The shifter booter was replaced during my ownership and is still in great condition. The parking brake now has a leather gator on it instead of the rubber accordian style cover and also have a leather hand brake cover / grip instead of the factory plastic one. These little things just make the car feel a little nicer inside. Original floor mats are long gone and unfortunately there haven't been any gray factory once available for years. So the next best solution is a reasonably price set of new floor mats that have been slightly modified to fit - again, one of those things I'll point out in person to a perspective buyer. Finally the carpets are in great shape - very clean and no stains! I've also got the somewhat rare door mounted coin holder and the complete tool set in the trunk.
The exterior isn't perfect but is great shape for the average person walking by. I get compliments all the time on the car and used to have multiple offers to buy the car while driving it. Typical Murphy's Law though, now that I'm actually ready to sell it (and not driving it) those buyers aren't around... But the good news is that you might get the chance to buy this instead!! There is a small door ding on the front right wheel arch which should be about a $50 fix. The front lower valance has the typcially sand blasted look from daily driving. I was going to get the Dr. Colorchip road rash repair and touch it up, but I'm running out of time and energy (again - too many cars and projects). On the bottom of the front in is a correct 325i lip that is fantastic shape - can't tell you how many e30s I see with this thing missing - why?? The front parking lights as well as both the front and rear side marker lights are smoked so they blend in better. The main headlights (low beams) have been upgraded to H4 style lights to improve light output (didn't like the ellipsoids personally) and the highbeams are yellow like the European Hellas. I've got standard sealed white halogen bulbs for both high and low beams if you would prefer the stock look instead. Same goes for the parking lights and side marker lights - I've got the original orange and red lenses for all of those as well. All in great shape - almost new looking. The headlight surrounds / bezels have been upgraded to the European version which give a sublte but more aggressive look. Finally on the exterior, the car has 14" BBS basketweave wheels with new'ish Sumatomo tires that have about 8,000 miles on them. The wheels are in great shape including the center badges. Oh yeah, the power antenna still works as well.
Besides looking great, the list of maintenance over the last 5 years is extemely long, but basically it includes the following:
- Oil change every 3,000 miles with Mobile 1 full synthetic and Mahle oil filter
- New brake Brembo rotors, Mintex pads, and sensors
- New Timing belt, tensioner, water pump, and belts (15,000 - 20,000 miles ago)
- Remanufactured fuel injectors
- New cap, rotor, plugs, and coil
- New fuel filter
- New radiator and hoses with BMW blue coolant and distilled water
- New head gasket at 120,000 miles
- New catalytic convertor (25,000 miles ago)
- New power steering hoses (3) and resevoir
- New rear sway bar links and bar bushings
- New clutch
- New rear wheel bearings
- New front control arms and bushings
- New intake manifold gaskets (both sides including throttle body) and valve cover gasket
- New battery
- New alternator
There are other things, but I think the list above is long enough to give you an idea that a lot of maintenance has been done to keep this car healthy. I'll provide the new owner with a consolidated, comprehensive list including dates and mileage. The stomp test code is 1-4-4-4 which means there are no error codes.
Don't get me wrong, the car isn't perfect but it is a ton of fun and I'm going to miss it terribly. I've got some spare parts to go with the car as well such as spare fuses and relays, extra oil filters, bulbs & lenses, etc.
If you have any questions or are seriously interested, please contact me. I'm not interested in hearing shoot from the hip, steal the car low ball offers. If you feel the car is not correctly priced, I'm open to discussion, but let's do that AFTER you look at the car. I've done enough research over the last 5 years that I'm fairly comfortable with the good / bad points of these cars (and mine in particular) that you're not going to BS me and I'm not going to give the car away. I'd truly like for the car to find a good home with someone who is going to enjoy it and take care of it.
