My 1st Valve Adjustment w Sound Clip

Hello all I just finished my 1st attempt at a valve adjustment and wanted to post a clip. I'm not sure how much you can tell by sound alone, but I thought I'd ask how I did.
I followed the Bentley, and this clip was taken when my motor was nice and warm.
I saw lots of youtube vids w/ bad sounds, but no "this is how your m20 should sound."

I love that people ask stupid questions so I dont have.

What type of oil are you using for your car? The engine ticks a lot louder than mine.

I have 20w50, synthetic at the moment.

I also have my hood partially closed as to capture the sound.

I was worried I might be louder than necessary.

Sort of hard to tell what I'm hearing when the pitch is changed by the recording device. Could be that your injectors are loud. Did you pay attention to the sound of the engine prior to the adjustment? Does it sound any different from that?

Hard to tell but it does not sound ridiculous. As long as you adjusted them to 0.25MM and tightened them down when motor was cold, then you should be fine. You should have adjusted each one, then tighten, then re-check clearance. There should be a small resistance in feeding the feeler gauge in. I prefer the lowered end, like 0.250 rather than 0.259. I used them method on my M20 and its pretty quiet afterward.

Keep in mind the M20 is a ticking monster, even with fresh valve adjustment.

Thanks, it was the small resistance part of the instructions that makes it a relative task. In other words the process is not as exact as torque nut to 25lbs pr whatever.

I went through everything, reread the instructions and went through it all again.
