Dudes, my m20 is cutting out

arounf 4k and above at high throttle settings or full throttle I suspect either the coil or the fuel pump

runs up fine sometimes and WILL hold 6000rpm but sometimes when accelerating quickly i get a sudden power loss, CEL, a pucker in my bum....I usually just upshift and its fine and keeps driving

    any ideas?
im running 19lb type 3s and a markd chip for said injectors

Try adjusting the T.P.S. I had similar issues, and this did the trick.

During acceleration it used to feel like the engine was misfiring a lot and not accelerating above a certain point. I couldn't tell you that point because my tach doesn't work but it was pretty consistent during acceleration.

I meant consistent at WOT, not throughout the rev range. It ran great until trying to accelerate aggressively. I adjusted the TPS so it clicks near closed throttle and clicks at WOT and my issue was fixed.

edit: I'm no e30 pro, your issue maybe something else. Also post up some details on the ride, early or late?

Brother's car is doing a very similar thing. Easy to test the TPS but I'm not sure that would cause random surges/jerking. Issue is still occurring on his car but I was able to figure out the air intake sensor was way off and could be reeking havoc on the ignition timing. He just got an AFM to test out today. If you figure anything else out let me know! Will post up an update if the new parts fixes the issue.

Bad spot in the AFM maybe?

I'd check the coil. Could be a weak spark, but strong enough to burn in a low load scenario.

I've had this happen multiple times, easy driving will be fine. But the coil just can't keep up with under hard acceleration.

Had a similar problem (minus the CEL) at it was caused by rust/debris in the gas tank.

That it was getting stuck in the feeder pump sock?
