New to e30. Just curious if I should run H&R race or H&R sport springs. I would pair them with bilstein sports. Just bought the car, and it sits on raceland coils. Not a big fan of them. As of right now I need to raise the car for my tastes. The roads I drive on are somewhat bad at times. I know the progressive rates help with normal driving. Please give me any suggestions.

Depends on what kind of ride quality vs. lowness/handling tradeoff you're looking to make. Practically everyone on this forum under the age of 30 will tell you to go with the race springs. I have one car with each though neither are my daily. If I had to pick one of the two to drive every day for a month based solely on that tradeoff and ride quality, it's the car with the sports (and Konis) hands down.

For a daily driver there is nothing wrong with stock (especially IS) springs. Bilstein Sports would not be my choice in that case. I think Koni SA's (set no more that 1 turn from full soft initially) are a better choice. The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.
