E30 M3 race car gauge cluster

IF INTERESTED EMAIL ME, PLEASE NO PM'S!!!

Details:Custom made gauge cluster that I believe came out of a period race car. Most of these clusters used a orange or red aluminum plate to hold the gauges, but this is carbon fiber. The construction, date of the gauges and age of the wiring lead me to believe that this was created in the late 80's. I added the VDO tachometer in 2011 as I couldn't find the correct Stack tachometer. I have been casually searching used race car classifieds since hopping a good used one would pop up.

    Gauges included:
    - VDO fuel level
    - VDO oil temp
    - VDO oil pressure
    - VDO water temp
    - VDO water pressure
    - VDO voltage
    - VDO 0-8,000 tachometer

Discrepancies: VDO tachometer is not period correct, but works. Custom wiring is needed to install in a street car.

                      It can be rotated easily!

Not to mess with your thread but highly unlikely that is from the 80's. Correct me if i'm wrong but show me anything from the 80's made like that out of carbon fiber.

Racers turn their tach (and sometimes all gauges) so that at redline (or normal operating condition) the needle is pointing straight up. That way you can tell at a glance that its time to shift (or that all systems are normal).

I agree with you and have had the same thought myself especially since all the panels were anodized orange or red in the race cars. However the wiring on the backside is old as hell, the gauges are all dated from the 80's (except the tacho) and the layout is exactly the same as all the old E30 M3 race cars. Either it's a replica that was done around the same era, or it was an update to save a bit more weight when the cars were campaigned as privateers.
