I am also interested in the answer, my reset-tool doesn't work on my 318 or my brothers M3.

If you don't want the service indicator at all you can remove it very easily by taking out the cluster and just pulling out the service piece. Everything else will still work fine with it missing.

          wow, thats an old post.

e30 pin 11 (wht/blu) SI RESET signal from si board to diag connector. i have found this to be true on the 86es, 3/87m, 88i, 89is, 91is, 90m.

e36 pin 19 (wht/grn) SI RESET signal from inst. cluster to diag connector. i have found this to be true on the 92e34, 94e36, 95e36, 95e36m, 98euro e36m3.

            So right now i have e34 pin 19 to e30 pin 16. Should i have 19 going to 11 and 16 or just 11?

            Thanks

Yeah, I figured id keep the board a little bit cleaner and just bump this one.

Just 11. The wiring diagrams that you find online are wrong.

e36 pin 16 could be rdx data link or the static oil level depending on years.

not sure how many time i have to say this......there are NOT any correct / fool proof wiring diagrams on the internet. PERIOD. ultimately, you need the bentley /etms and a voltometer.

oh, since i did start this thread.....(two years ago, 6 e30's ago).....the problem was no voltage at the diag. connector.

                  cheers, jason

i read somewhere that it's possible to reset the Oil Service indicator by grounding some pins on the diagnostic port.

I searched but oddly can't find anything. Can anyone help?

having same issue. This cure all diagnostic port issues or just the reset tool?

I have a peake tool that is supposed to be able to reset, but it's supposed to read all codes too. Likewise, no power when plugged in. This a cure all, or just cure the reset portion?

I don't care about resetting anything, I want to be able to read my codes if there are any... stomp test isn't working either btw.
