    '85 323i Euro in WI

Up for sale is our (friend and I joint purchased) 1985 Arktisblau Metallic Euro 323i.

174k miles. Starts up every time.

The main issue is that it has no title and we haven't been able to/haven't spent the time to find out what needs to be done to get a title.

The previous owner had it imported from Germany while she was in the army and accidentally left the title in Germany, so it was a registration-only vehicle this whole time. The good news because of that, though--it's essentially a one-owner vehicle. She's owned it from 1985 until we bought it in October.

Everybody tells me a title can be had. The car has a VIN #, but the DMV can't find it. People tell me they should be able to assign it a new VIN, but somebody at the DMV told me that because it was bought as parts only it will never have a title. I don't know how much truth there is to that, considering there is no paper trail to prove the car was bought as parts only.

I don't necessarily want to sell this car, but I do need the money right now and this is one thing I don't need at the moment.

Our plan was to make it into a track only car, and in the process see what we could do about getting a title. If nobody buys it, we will still do that.

We had considered parting it out but would rather just sell it whole--less hassle, and neither my friend nor I have sufficient space with which to inventory all the parts.

We've begun to do some work to it, including:

Removing the dash to replace with a crack-free dash
    Removing the back seat
    Removing the trunk carpet

We also bought several parts that could be sold with the car, if wanted:

4 mint condition 14" bottlecap wheels
    Crack-free dash
    Racing seat (ProCar by Scat)

    It needs:

    Valve adjustment
    Valve cover gasket
    POSSIBLY a head gasket
    At least one tie rod
Patch job on rust hole in bottom of car, behind driver's seat

    We are asking:

    $1000 for just the car
    or
$1500 with the new parts we bought

    This is negotiable.

Please PM me questions or offers. NINE31 is the co-owner so you can also get in touch with him if you have any questions, etc.

Bump. Want to sell this. It would make a great parts car and/or a great track car. No major rust except under the car in one spot.

    Hit me!

Don't mean to shit on your thread in any way shape or form but
No Title+Bad rust on the floor+Possible blown HG= Parts car... considering the only desirable parts on the car are the bumpers/valence and the 731 casting head (five speed swap is not desirable since it's a getrag 240/6cyl setup), you can maybe get about half your asking price..

Bumpers, head, crack free dash, mint bottle caps, german check panel, etc are all quality parts.

The title is recoverable. This is a two owner 85.

Throw us some offers we're reasonable.

what's so special about the german check. it can be had for 3 bux in Deutschland.

Anyway, do I understand correctly that it drives?
Did you have the poliece verify the VIN for DMV.
Is there a VIN plate on the door jamb?
Do you have DOT and EPA release paperwork for it?

Are you really parting it? I'll take the bumpers, front valence, cluster, and headlights.

OK, here is what we are doing.

This car will be our track car. So we are stripping it down to almost nothing and parting out what we don't need.

Right now we have a bunch of crap sitting around waiting to be inventoried, but here is the basic stuff:

The Euro Bumpers are for sale. They are currently pending confirmation and payment, but if that falls through I will update. We would part with the Euro valance as well, but only if we could trade for a valance in equal shape (ours is in nearly perfect shape).

We will probably keep the headlights and grill, unless anybody has a brilliant idea on how to replace that without it looking like hollow eye sockets or like a total jalopy.

The interior carpet and all seats are for sale. They are Grey sport seats. (Driver's seat is rather worn --see posted pics)
--The only catch is we would rather not sell the passenger's seat unless it is somewhat of a trade for a racing seat and/or bracket. We have a racing seat but haven't figured out a way to fab up a bracket for it because it's weird.
--The carpet is in pretty good shape. May smell slightly like smoke from previous owners.

All dash parts are for sale, including a crack-free dash, a cracked up dash (we'd practically give that away), glove box, and all interior trim pieces.

All climate controls, Euro blower motor, working A/C compressor, any A/C parts, any heater parts.

We will consider selling either the steely wheels or the bottlecaps.

                            The gauge cluster.

Trunk interior carpet and rubber matting.

Anything else random--if we don't need it to run around the track, we will consider letting it go.

                            So...

                            BUMP!
