Hi everyone,
I'm selling my modified Delphin Grey 1989 325i. With an S50 engine swap, this car is a German hot rod. It’s lightweight and zippy on the road. Steering is direct and, with a Z3 steering rack, very responsive. The CA Tuning coilovers keep the car planted while cornering and the custom exhaust has a lovely, growly tone. Oh, and it has orange wheels.
All this contributes to a driving experience that always leaves a smile on my face.
I bought this car from a fellow enthusiast in Oceanside, CA in February of 2019. During my ownership, I’ve put more than 36,000 miles on the clock and driven some of the best roads in Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, California, Utah, and Colorado without suffering any breakdowns or problems.
The car is currently in “race mode” with the bolt-in roll cage crossmembers and race belts installed, but it’s pretty quick to switch to “dad mode” and re-install the kid’s booster seats for a cruise around town as a family.
I’ve had a lot of maintenance done during my ownership all with the goal of reliability first and drivability/performance second. In addition to regular maintenance, highlights include:
I’m open to a long-distance sale and would be happy to work with a buyer to ship the car, or pick them up at the Boise Airport for a fly out/drive back situation. I also head down to Southern California on a monthly basis for work, and could drive the car down.
A note to California buyers: The previous owner was setting the car up to be BAR certified in California after the engine swap. I started moving in that direction after I bought the car, but dropped the project when I moved to Idaho. With it’s current exhaust (which has no catalytic converters) it will not pass California emissions requirements. I’m happy to sell to someone in California, but you’ll need to know a guy if you want to get it properly registered.
I put together a website with the maintenance history, around a hundred photos of the car, and some other background information over at https://e30forsale.com. Feel free to hit me up there or here if you'd like more information!

- Getting the odometer and fuel level senders working correctly
- Reinstalling the A/C for comfortable driving in the summer
- Custom exhaust with cat delete from Snake River Speed Shop
- Installing a JR Parts Oil Temp/Pressure digital gauge
- Making sure the drivetrain and suspension parts were working correctly
