    Fs: 1988 bmw m3

    Hello all,

I hope I am not breaking any rules by listing my car first. I tried to read over all your rules to make sure I did not violate them in this post. If I am wrong, please let me know and I will do whatever is required to comply.

I bought this car in 2004 from a doctor who had it sitting in his garage for a couple years and was unable to drive it due to a back injury. Since then I have daily driven it.

    Mileage 115,197
    Year 1988
    Updates:
    Rebuilt alternator 08
New motor for drivers door window 09
    New gas pan in 07
    New wheel bearing 09
That’s about all I’ve had to do to it besides change the oil. I have receipts for everything I’ve done, but that’s all I can remember at the moment.
I’ve always had the work done at Machens BMW and its always been kept in the garage.

Things I know are wrong with it:
Crack across left headlight, not really noticeable
Small worn spot in the leather on drivers seat which I took a picture of
Spider webbing on leather, also shown in pics
A couple “twirlies” (not sure what they are called) in the paint on the spoiler. They aren’t what id consider cracks just a couple little spiral imperfections?
It also has a salvage title where someone crunched the rear quarter panel a long time ago but it was professionally restored before I bought it.
There are also a few rust bubbles forming near the front windshield, and a spot in the trunk where the water drains down.
The exhaust is rattling/buzzing a bit, but I believe that its just because of old exhaust hangers that need replacing.

This car is located in Columiba, MO. Buyer would need to pay for and arrange shipping if this car will need to be shipped.

I can provide any very detailed photos to those seriously interested. I am selling this car because I am having a baby and need a more child friendly car.

I do not check the forum really often so the best way to get me is email at cwendleton AT yahoo DOT com.

you can see all the photos of the car at http://cvoight.winkflash.com login with password "1988M3" this password is case sensitive.

    I am asking $10,000.

I have a feeling this car will not be up for long... Looks like a pretty good steal considering the m3 market these days!

GLWS I don't think you will need it however. And I wish I had 10k sitting in the bank!

Sheesh. 10k for an unmolested m3 with 115k? It does not get any better than that. If no accidents or rust and full service records, this thing is gone.

It does have a salvage title, so maybe not a real steal..

Conservative estimates put the non-totaled E30 M3 count in the US at around 3500 cars max. A salvage title means less and less every single day with these cars.

Just for for what it's worth...
I have no affiliation with the seller or the car.

I have bought and sold a lot of cars in my life and a salvage title means 25% to 50% depredation. So he has price this car right on the money.

                    Really?

Do you specialize in the purchase and resale of collectible autos?
                    Vintage vehicles?
                    Specialty cars?
Give me some examples of the above that you've purchased and resold.
Or are we talking about garden variety mass produced cars?

If the later, your point has no merit in this conversation. ;)
If you can give me reasonable examples, I'll eat my own words and admit I'm wrong.

But hey, what do I know? I only see ~75 different e30 m3's a year... and have seen multiple cars (e30 M3's) appraise for over $25k within the past year... even with "salvage" titles.
By your logic those cars are worth $50k? ;-)

My point is that the asking price is likely below what it should be, and people are too caught up in "title" issues. Also those who walk away from cars due to "title" issues, usually don't have the cash to buy the car in the first place and use that as an excuse. (There are always exceptions to the rule!)

                    Best,
                    Chris

Don't even need a title for a car that old in Vermont. If I had the cash I would be on a plane right now!

Be nice, Its priced to sell. Your comments are more than wleocme but they should of been directed to the seller.

Add value to the sellers post and it will be helpfull. Lets not debate on a guys for sale thread.

Its ok to disagree but make your own point not shun anyone else in the process.

Free bump for a well priced M3. Someone help him get some pics on here Do you have any pics 88bmwm3?

                          Security!
