    FS(socal): 1988 325is, 5spd, 428,***

I am just going to toss this up and see if anyone is interested. The longer i have it the more i will make things nice but it is to a point where most things are taken care of.

    bad:
drivers seat is a passenger leather comfort seat- not a sport seats
    3.73 open diff
still has a metal rear bumper
exhaust hangs lower than it should
    high miles- means nothing

    good:
    new clutch
    new t-belt
    new coolant system
    new filters
    (new lots of maintenance)
    ssk (z3 1.8 i think)
    no cracks in dash
    good tires on clean weaves
    everything works
    smog cert

I just drive this car 600 miles to the Sequoias on a camping trip and the car was very solid. I got up the Grape Vine in 5th gear going 80 (i had a good run for it). This car drives great, the suspension is tight, the motor is smooth, and the body is clean and straight. If you see paint imperfections in the pictures it is probably a dead bug from the said camping trip, there is really no damage. I did notice the left rear quarter has been repainted, i can only tell because i can see a line in the door jam, the paint is very good- the door jam isn't, it has some primer overspray, i have been meaning to take care of that. i asked the previous owner a few nights ago and he just said a lady scraped up the side, no real panel damage. I have been meaning to get all the maintenance records from the past owner, i can work on getting them if someone is interested. The guy who owned it last had it since 2002 and he bought it with under 200,000. He just commuted with it for the last 7 years. This car WILL make it across country, it will never stop.
I am asking 2000. I dont really have to sell or want to, so don't think you can go under 2000. come drive it.

I just tossed on a rear plastic bumper, painted trim black like the front and i re sprayed the rocker panels with SEM trim paint. The exhaust doesnt sag anymore. The car is parked because i am slapping new brake lines on. I put in a new starter on Friday and saw the lines and chose to drive a different car until i can get the parts. So assume this car has new brake lines. the car has 429 now. Sooooooo..... does anyone want to buy it? I want that r3v kid's red 318is to DD- or on of the like- since i have a long drive to school every day this year. this car wants to go to 500 and i don't mind getting it there but a m42 would be nice.

do you have pics of the motor? is there a way to post or send previous maintainence records? any leaks squeaks or issues needed to be addressed soon?

i thought i had some pictures but i will have to take them later. the motor and bay is clean because i pulled the motor and transmission when i did the clutch and other maintenance and i cleaned everything then. When i was under the car i saw some ATF fluid building up from one of the lines that come off the reservoir. It doesnt really drip but it does come out and it isnt from the rack. The suspension isn't really bad but if one was to buy it, i would tell them to try and get some new stuff in there within a year. the CAB's look a bit dry and the struts are a bit soft and the rears squeak when it is cold.

Excuse me for asking too many questions but if I drive down to check out this car its gonna be a bit of a drive (and, like every consumer, I want to be as sure as possible please). Some of these questions are coming from e30info so I might sound like a broken record..

                          a) How is the alignment? Does it pull to any one side at all? How does it pull when brakes are applied?

                          b) Since the engine is probably not the original, how many miles on the current engine (any paperwork to show when it was bought?)

                          c) Does everything on the odometer work? It seems the mileage counter was never unplugged :) (Just playing with ya)

                          d) How many owners? Or better yet, got a VIN number?

                          e) Any accidents as far as you know?

                          f) Does the car pass smog? When was the last smog?

                          g) If a mechanic were to look at this car, would they say it was in good shape? great shape? excellent shape? Just estimate.

                          h) Is the car full power? Do the power windows, locks, etc work if so?

                          i) Does water leak inside of the cabin? Are there any leaks from the engine bay or anywhere under the car?

I know it's a lot of questions for a 2000 dollar car but if you could answer them I'd appreciate it and I'm sure other potential buyers would too. If a car I'm currently looking at drops through I'd definitely like to fall back on this one, I've been wanting a 325is (or an ix model).

                          Thanks!

                            A) it goes slightly left but before i put on other wheels and tires it went slightly right. If i keep commuting this thing i will get new tires and check from there.
                            B) I do not know but my father knows the previous owner and i could get this info.
                            C) everythings works
                            D)wbaaa1308j8254154
E)i was talking to the last owner and he said a lady scraped the drivers quarter panel and that part got a respray. the paint does match perfectly.
                            F) the car past wonderfully a few months ago, probably even less than 3 months ago.
                            G) A mechanic would say, " that is a ton of miles, the car doesnt look it. must have been taken care of well, it is in great shape.
                            H) locks and windows work
                            I) the weather stripping is something i need to get. The doors have some home depot weather stripping on top of the oem stuff. I dont think it leaks, it just looks dumb. I have only owned this car in the summer though.

here are a few more pictures. I see that i need to spend a little time refitting the rear bumper.
