    FS: 1988 325iX

    1988 325iX 2 door, 5 Speed
    Silver on Cardinal Sport
    Asking price $4,250

    Story:

I had a couple offers lined up for this but they didn't pan out. So up on the forums it goes.

I purchased this car in the beginning of 2008 from a friend who had owned it for 4 years. While he owned it I did a lot of maintenance on the car. Since I have taken ownership, most of the maintenance has been performed at German Autosport as I have run out of extra time to work on cars.

I know the history of this car from about 78k miles. Purchased from an older gentleman. Car had major service including transfer case, front diff, fuel pipe, brake pipe, etc. Car ran flawlessly for a few years until it was rear ended by an ambulance. Previous owner pulled in a favor from a body shop to keep the car from being totalled. Car received Fresh paint all over, new sheet metal in back. I added plastic bumpers and Euro Grilles to the car at that time.

Since I have purchased it, I have dumped copious amounts of cash into driveline stuff, half shafts, wheel bearings.

    Body:

As my other FS ad states, I live in New England. Even with fresh paint work, the tin worm has reared it's ugly head in a few places. Right side of trunk (shell, not trunk lid), passenger rocker, rear valence. Other than that, there are a handful of rock chips, but the rest of the paint looks great.

    Mods:

    Bilstein HD Shocks (Brand new)
    BMW M-Technic springs
Larger Brake Master Cylinder (not 100% sure of diameter)
    Husco Armrest
    Euro Grilles
    H1/H4 headlights
    Supersprint Cat-back exhaust
    iS Front and Rear lip
BBS RX 16" Wheels with Michelin tires - at least a season left
    Aluminum RSMs

    Recent Maintenance:
    Within the past 1 year,
    Front Wheel bearings
Front Half Shafts (with used parts)
    New Brakes (500 miles)
    Fluids Flushed every 3.5k miles
    Tie Rods
    Control Arms

    A/C WORKS!

    Included:

Thule feet/crossbars (Rockymounts bike carriers NOT included)
Original 15" rims (Rubber is worthless)
Sport Edition Winter rims with snows

    Problems/Needs:
    Driver Fog Obliterated
Rear Center Console has broken front tabs
    Worn Shift knob
    Seam ripped on rear seat
Windshield Washers aren't very powerful (I have new hose and T-fittings, just haven't installed)
Shifter bushings worn (I have B&M Short Shift kit, just haven't installed)
Clunk from rear suspension (I reinstalled a stock sway with new links to see if this fixed it, but it didn't... I have replaced everything in the rear suspension so I'm done trying)
    Snagged sunroof liner (see pics)
    Toolkit is empty
Fan Resistor blown (I have a spare, not installed)

I was unable to take better pictures of this car today, but will take them tomorrow. For now, here's what I have:

    -------------------------------------------------

    rust on front valence:

    fog light cracked:

two weird dimples on front fender:

    rust on passenger rocker:

    rust on rear valence:

Parking scar: (showing the cracked plastic, that isn't a scratch on the bumper, it's a string from the wash mitt)

    Paint Chips on Fender Flares:

Caked on Brake Dust on BBS (also missing 2 center caps):

Rust on seam between rear panel and rear quarter:

    Empty Toolkit:

    Worn and Blurry Shiftknob:

    Ripped Seam on rear seat:

    Snagged Sunroof Liner:

Hole on front wheel well where ignition coil pulled out (was relocated before it ripped off):

    Engine is grimy:

I will try to get more pictures of the engine bay, etc. As you can see from the pics I have a small child and that is making things challenging. Car is awesome! I hate to sell it!

very very nice ix. looks much better without the roof rack. as far as comparison vs 325i/is. it's the same motor but the awd robs some power and the car is about 200lbs heavier IIRC. not sufficient to be noticeable on the street.

                  Hey man,

I have a serious party looking at the car tomorrow morning, after which I will post here as to whether the car is still available.

In my opinion, the iX is slower.

                  cheers!
