I have an alpine 91 318is with a bad motor, was shipped up from florida with a rod through the block and guy never got around to fixing it so it's never been driven up here, no rust, not a dent on it. Shouldn't say no rust there's a finger nail sized area on the sunroof panel which is pretty convenient, comes off with 6 bolts.

Also have a 95 m50 from an e34 with complete harness, 413 dme, and e36 motor mount arms.

If you want me to put the motor in the car it's gonna be a little over $3500 but I can offer 24 hour a day tech support if you want to tackle it yourself :)

More out of curiosity, how much for just the 318is as-is?

How firm are you on 88+?

        I've got a nice 87 in CT I'd let go for 3500

What sort of shape is the 318is in originally? Would the AC functionality/etc. be retained with the swap?
