    FS: 1991 318i Project Car

For sale is my neglected baby. About 2 years ago, I stopped daily driving it because the timing chain was getting a bit noisy. My plan was to replace the chain and guide rails but I never got to it. So the car has been sitting in a heated garage for the past 2 years. I need to move on because I know I will never get back to it.

I did a lot of work on the car when I got it, including:
    Keyless entry
    Replaced all dash lights
    Plugs/Wires/Belts
    Fuel Filter
    Thermostat
Control Arms with M3 offset control arm bushings
H&R Sport & Bilstein Sport all around
    Front Wheel Bearings
    Rear Wheel Bearings
    Rear subframe mount bushings
    Tie rod
Sway bar bushings and link ends
    Exhaust
    Arm Rest Installed

    Options installed:
    4.10 LSD installed
    Manual crank Sunroof

The car starts and runs but beyond the engine noises, because it sat so long, it developed a vacuum leak and the brakes are very mushy.

Paint is a bit faded from sitting so long but should buff back well. It has some rusty areas, but not too bad yet. See pics.

The car is nice and tight due to all the new bushings and suspension parts.

You can see some of the work I did on it on here:

A couple pics of when I towed it back from the garage a few states away where I was storing it:
Dropbox lets you back up photos from your iPhone, Android, Windows, or Mac. Learn more about secure cloud photo storage with Dropbox.

In short, it has 215K miles on it but it has a lot of life left to it and I'd love for someone to get her back on the road rather than part it out.

Pic taken a year before putting it away - rims are gone and bottlecaps on it now:

I looked at this car on Tuesday.

It is a great deal for someone who is a little handy with cars. The paint is a bit faded, but it should come right back with a good buffing. The engine starts right up and it doesn't sound like it has a wavering idle or anything odd like that.

The timing case is a little growly.

Zoso is a good dude. He probably won't kill you.

I appreciate that Fred. I may not kill you, but you may die on the ride through the 'burg!

            kowalzekc,
As far as rust, there is a dime shaped one on the corner of the hood. The paint is slightly peeling around the driver side wheel arch, there is some behind the driver side front wheel/rocker panel area, the typical rust around the license plate lights, and some on the rear valence. Most of these are shown on the dropbox link in the original post. I'll take some more closeups when I get home.

Hey I appreciate it a lot. Doesn't sound to bad at all.

              Thank you.

It really does have life left in it for someone with more time and E30 love. My kids have sucked that all out of me.

Is it a 5 spd? I can't see from the pictures.

                    Yes, 5 spd...

Don't quote me, but I think all 1991 318 models were manuals.

The timing case is noisy, but I don't think self destruction is imminent any time soon. Vacuum leak won't be much of an issue with the revs up... but I wouldn't, in good conscience, let anyone drive it any distance with those brakes. They just aren't working well enough to safely stop you.
