For Sale 1989 BMW 325i Convertible
Price Drop too $5500 OBO
-Because the AC needs a recharge (I just put the top down) but I tried today just to see if it was still good.
-The top has some creases on the inside from being stored over the winter while the hardtop was on. (Does not leak or show on the outside)
Car currently located in Newport News Va, but will soon be in Fairfax VA area.
I just got a job in the DC area and really need to move down to just one car, so sadly I have to let my bmw go. This is a tough decision for me since I really love this car (as do most of us), but I will soon be getting married as well and need to organize my priorities.
Ok about the car, as you just read it is a 1989 Convertible with approximately 100k miles. As usual with these guys the odometer broke less than a year ago, its stopped on 95,093. I purchased this car from my father who had rear ended a guy at a fairly slow speed. My dad bought it in early 2008 from a guy in a multimillion dollar house in florida. We drove it back and had no mechanical issues on the road trip. Its a 5 speed manual, zinno paint with tan leather interior. This car has a crack free dash, minty front seats and pretty nice rear seats (tear at the top of the back seat as usual on the cabrios). There are no mechanical issues with the car. I can daily drive it without any issues (but try not too since have a honda civic for commuting). As with a lot of cars if you let it sit for a week or so it sometimes takes a couple seconds to crank it up but will start and runs fine. The idle is right at 700 rpm and doesn't fluctuate. I would trust this thing to take me anywhere. If you have any specific questions I would be happy to answer them. I have a reasonable amount of documentation from its previous life, but I have done all of the work to it since I have owned it.
About the accident previously mention (read this):
My dad rear ended a guy coming home from work in bumper to bumper traffic. The diving board took most of the impact but it tweaked the grills, high beams and corner of the passenger side fender. My dad was never into sourcing parts online and didn't want to pay the dealer fees for new ones, so I offered to take the car off his hands. I took the opportunity to swap euro bumpers, smileys and a euro valence. This car does not have a salvage title. Its a normal titled car. The only cosmetic thing left from the accident is the front passenger fender was partially repainted and didn't have the pin stripe put back on.
Work Since purchased:
- Mint Weaves were purchased when my dad owned it
- Euro Bumper Conversion (the middle front and back piece were purchased brand new)
- New Power steering hoses
- Freshly painted euro valence
- Depo Euro Smiley headlights
- Euro Fogs (Uninstalled but will go with the car)
- Brand New Valve Cover gasket (Less than 50 miles)
- Brand new clutch slave cylinder (Less than 50 miles)
- New Exhaust (Less than 500 miles)
- New front shocks (5000 miles or so)
- Just passed the VA state safety inspection in March
- Passed the VA emissions inspection this past winter
- Oil changed every 3 months ( i don't hit the 3000 miles very often)
I will add to this as I think of things.
Bads:
-The turn signals blink fast because the euro bumpers eliminate the bumper side markers. (I don't have bulbs in those sockets)
-I was told that the rear differential seals were leaking a small amount by my BMW tech. He didn't seem overly concerned so its not something I have done yet.
-The washer fluid sensor is broken
-Driver Side headlight fogs up sometimes
Goods:
This car really is an excellent example of an E30. The interior is great, the exterior is almost flawless and you get the euro bumper sleekness. I would love to keep it but its just not plausible at the moment.
-Low mileage
-crack free dash!
-Euro bumpers
-Mechanically awesome
-Brand new stainless exhaust
-The top doesn't leak and has a clear back window!
I also have a hardtop and windscreen we can price accordingly to go with the car or I can sell separately.
$1500 for the hardtop
Not sure yet about the windscreen.
Now some pictures:
Before the new exhaust

When my dad bought it

Interior

The Odometer broke right after this, as you can see the trip meter says 101, its now says 000 and doesn't count up and the mileage is stuck right at 95,093.

Euro Bumper install

Euros purchased from Levent, I got a new front middle piece and rear middle piece

Brand middle rear section from germany

Exhaust

Some of these pics are from last summer, but the car looks identical. Im going to clean it up this weekend and try to avoid the pollen so I can snap some more recent pics with the exhaust and such. Let me know if you have questions. It doesn't have to be sold for a month or so, but Im starting to see if people want it now.
Thanks
