    1990 Mercedes Benz w124 300E - garage kept $2100

    Hello
    **PRICE DROP $1700**

    Re-posting this from other forums....

Selling my 1990 w124 chassis m103 motor 300E. 275k miles, was used as a trip car to California and back for many years. Its in great shape. Bought it from a friend, used it as a daily driver for my small 10 miles commute everyday. Has been great, extremely reliable. I've been a lot of time into cleaning and making this car superb. Still needs a few things, but it keeps on truckin!
    See pictures:

    Good:
-Paint is in excellent shape. 2 weeks ago, I polished and buffed the entire car with my Griotts professional random orbital using professional grade KlearKote products.
-No dents or dings in the body. No rust. TN car all of its life
-Well maintained over the cars lifetime. Always taken to the same shop.
    -Garage kept, and it shows
-Bridgestone all-season tires on great shape original wheels. 70% + tread life left
-Installed new thermostat and low temp auxillary fan (common problems)
-A/C works great. Recently serviced and charged
-Suspension is in good working order. Its starting to show its age though. Handles and corners well still, and no weird noises. 1 small rattle when you hit bumps but I think its an exhaust heat shield that is loose.
-Alpine CD player with motorized flip up face. Also removable. High end 3-4 years ago
-DTM tip exhaust. Doesnt look ricey, fits well. Professionally installed. Some would call this bad, didnt bother me. Has a reasonably low sound/rumble
-All original reading material. Owners manual etc. Original emergency kit.
    -Rear automatic headrests work great.
-Transmission shifts and works very well. Never any issues or mis-shifts.
-Steering is firm at high speeds.
    -Newer ignition system
-Newer coolant system, including recent coolant flush and refill. Radiator is only a couple years old, less than 10k miles
-All gauges on the dash work. All buttons work in the car. Except sunroof and rear windows.
-Comes with Alpine 4 channel amp installed but not hooked up. Matches the head unit, same era.
-Euro plate installed I had lying around

    Bad:
-On the hottest of days, car heats up more than I would call normal. Never overheats, and has been much better since the new thermostat and aux fan. This only happens with the A/C on though. Common problem.
-Could probably use a set of tie rods. Not dire though. Still drives great
-Starting to need new brake pads and rotors.
-Sometimes when starting the car, you have to hold the key in Starting position longer than normal to make it start. According to the manual, this isnt uncommon. This is my first Mercedes, so you be the judge.
-Rear speakers dont work. Im sure its because of the fader switch. I ran new wires back there but stopped the process because I wanted new speakers. Common problem
-Lights on the cluster do not work. Not sure why. They worked when I got it, and slowly multiple parts of hte interior lights started to go. Common problem apparently
-Center vents do not work but all others do. I blieve this to be a vacuum distribution block issue behind the glovebox. Common problem
-Rear windows dont roll down, not sure why. Fronts work great however.
-Sunroof does not work. I had to manually force it to close. It is sealing, and does not leak. Would recommend just sealing it shut for good. Too many plastic parts involved with the sunroof tray. Seems more trouble than its worth to keep it in working order.

Asking $2100 obo. Would be a great base for someone to do an AMG conversion onto, or just simply a set of Monoblocks and some lowering springs. It does not show its miles what so ever. Local only unless you fly yourself out and drive the car back home. I would imagine it would make a long distance trip just fine.

Title in hand. I think I'm the third owner. The original owner transferred to his daughters name. So technically, you'd be the third.

Bump from a guy who owns a W124 Diesel and loves it. Before you dismiss these cars as a fat, bloated E Class Merc, go drive one. They are hundreds of pounds lighter than the new ones and the chassis is superb, one of MB's best. I'm surprised there isn't more of an enthusiast following for these cars.

This car in black with AMG monoblocks and a drop looks like $100K. Yours looks like a nice example and is the perfect color combo.

Thanks man. I feel the same way. Extremely reliable in all weather conditions. Monoblocks are the jam and make these cars look money with or without suspension work!

There is, but it is more geared towards the w124's with m119's in them :)

Great cars though, bump for a good buy!

With various flavors of V8 w124 (Hammer, 500e/E500, 400e/E420) produced from the factory, if I were to do a w124 swap, I'd go m120 V12. Brabus did it, probably the most sexy E class ever built.....well if you don't include the more recent EV-12
