Due to a recent E28 acquisition, I am torn as to what I should do. I can't keep both cars due to money constraints, So I have to sell one off. Since I am not sure which, this is a FEELER.
specs:
1991 318is 5-speed (obviously), 214k miles (don't get scared by the miles)
Suspension/unsprung Modifications:
H&R Race springs
Bilstien Sport shocks
IE Billet Aluminum RSMs
FULL poly bushings in the rear: Powerflex subframe, BMP RTABS, AKG diff.
M3 offset solid rubber CABs in the front
15x7 Kosei K1 wheels in the discontinued offset (direct E30 fitment) in MINT shape, newish Goodyear Eagle tires on rear, Kumho Ecsta front, tire size 205/50/25
Vorshlag 60mm stud kit
Motor work:
ALL new cooling system including water pump, 75C T-stat, new coolant sensors, new radiator, and VOLVO ELECTRIC FAN conversion, pulls TONS of air. This car will NEVER overheat. I took it to the track and drove it hard in 95F heat, NEVER even heated up past normal.
"mess under the intake" delete with ALL new gaskets and hoses
new t-chain tensioner
other usual maintenance
Brake work/upgrades:
Hawk HP+ track pads
Centric black painted rotors
Full sandblast and paint on all caliper components
Stuff that is no longer in the car:
AC system
Power Steering system
All interior components behind the front seats
sound system
note: rear interior, including matching rear seat I still have, and is included
Other maintenance/new parts:
New guibo
New Ansa OEM cat-back exhaust
New valve cover gasket
US ellipsoids
Re-upholstered blue cloth sport seats and matching rear seat.
I am also including very near new studded snow tires on bottlecaps that transforms this car into a wicked snow machine.
The BAD:
Blower motor doesn't work
The differential may be on its way out, but hey its an open 4.10, they suck anyway. Get an LSD.
The body.... Well that's a whole different issue alltogether... The body is rough, it needs a paint job, a new passenger door, and some cutting and welding in the guaranteed-to-be-there rust spot under the battery tray. It is also missing a trim piece, thanks to a recent excursion down to Albuquerque.
...aaaaand thats about it.
Conclusion:
This car is my baby. I have owned many BMWs (around 12 or so) but this one has stuck with me the longest, and I love it the most. (running in close second is my E28...). This car is an absolute BLAST to drive, as it weighs in at 2400 lbs (I weighed it), and the M42 motor is FLAWLESS, it has absolutely no problems whatsoever. Also, I have done ALL of the maintenance and upgrade work myself, and I know this car very very well, and I could offer my free tech support to any enthusiast who may buy this car.
Most of the value in this car is in its parts obviously, and as such, if someone offered me $2500 I would very tempted to take it.
Now for a few pictures:
This is an OLD picture. The mechanical fan is replaced with a Volvo electric fan, and the intake has been relocated lower (temporarily) with a K&N cone filter.

The bad side:

The better side: (the seats pictured are not the current seats)
