    WTB: LA area of CA

Hey guys, I'm looking for an e30 for one of my brothers out in Thousand Oaks CA. When I drove out there from NJ in my silver coupe, he loved it, and that's what I taught him how to drive stick on while I was out there. He just got his license and he is NOT a mechanic nor does he have the time to do major repairs...maintenance is fine, but not repairs.

So that being said, obviously I'm looking for a solid runner to be his DD, something that's already had the work done to it and is ready to put on another 50k without problems. I'd prefer something with a log of back history and service records, and something that has been maturely driven and taken care of. As close to stock as possible with maybe some suspension mods, but definitely something practical. 2 or 4 door and he'd prefer manual trans.

Also I guess what would also be VERY helpful is the name and number of one of you guys in the TO area who would also be willing to help him get to know the car and who's competent to do any work that comes along for a GOOD (low) rate!

Looking for this under $4k, let me know if you guys have or know of anything.

    Thanks,
    Adam

    would he consider a 93 e30 5 speed convertible?

friend considering selling his and thought I'd help him out...from what I know 200k miles fresh timing belt, brakes, brake hoses within the year along with suspension, plus other stuff...I know since I helped.

    HEATED SEATS!

Not sure if its a good candidate for a first car but this thing is solid, reliable and fun AND he wants 4k!
PM me if interested I'll see if I can pry it from his hands.

Miles mean nothing, and I would say 200K is average these days.

I couldnt disagree more, mileage does mean something, which is also probably why you included that exact sentiment in the WTB in your sig. And comparing the 15 cars that I've owned in the 14 years I've been driving, my feelings on mileage have been proven. Regardless, although 200k is quite common, its not what I'm looking for.

bump for you. And you are right, there is something to millage but if I was looking for a good car to drive and hold on to for awhile I would look past millage (thats just me). I have had two e30's with over 400K and drove one with 350K and all three were stock and not maintained too well- all rocked. In the end it doesn't matter, find exactly what you are looking for, shouldn't be too hard in Southern CA.

              no worries... but some advice

try not to get too focused on the mileage. Ask around and its better to get a "higher" mileage (relative term) example that has been well maintained and in good cosmetic condition than a lower mileage one with questionable maintenance requiring some form of body work.

There may be a formal fs ad coming soon for this. We'll see.
