    1991 BMW 318iS E30 Motor-Swap Turbo

    1991 BMW 318iS E30 Motor-Swap Turbo

    Asking: $6000 obo

I am selling my 1991 318iS E30. It has heavy modifications including exterior, suspension and motor. The body has about 178,xxx miles and the rebuilt motor has roughly 28,xxx miles. Also the car has the cloth Recaro iS sport seats that came with the car. Driver’s side has tears in it where you sit and a tear on the upper bolster, unfortunately very common with those seats. All the other seats are perfect. Dash has no cracks and clean up like brand new. M shift knob with M-Tech I steering wheel and red needles on the cluster like the E30 M3. The paint isn’t perfect, has dings from rocks on it but for being 19 years old and original pant, still looks great. Doors do have some door dings from other people not paying attention. Has new speakers, cd, usb, aux, player in the car, willing to include the sub if that’s a selling point for you. Speakers play all types of music amazingly.

Motor – The motor is a M102 engine from the E23 1981 745i. The engine is a turbo charged inline, 6 cylinder. It has a 3.4l head and a separate 3.5l block from a 1989 735i. This block was used because it has bigger pistons (89mm pistons vs. 92mm pistons) for better low-end torque. Both the head and block where completely rebuilt. The head was re-surfaced with new head-gasket, new seals and re-sealed vales along with Automotive Racing Products (ARP) Head Stud Kit. The block was honed and re-surfaced with new pistons rings and new bearings. An adaptation was with oil-spraying nozzles into the block to cool down the pistons. All parts where brand new. It also comes with the stock 3Row radiator and the clutch fan from the 745i and a Hallman Boost Controller. The motor sits on custom made motor mount hangers that are ½” thick steel that hang on the sub frame of the car.

Drive Train – Drive train consists of a 5-speed manual gearbox from a 1989 535i, direct bolt-on, custom driveshaft and an S3.25 differential highway gear. All the parts were cleaned and tested before installed.

Exterior – iS lip painted the same color as the body, with RyanG Splitter. Smoked Euro-Ellipsoid Headlights with city lights. M-Tech I Trunk lip. Smoked turn signals/reflectors. All red tail lights. Blackout kidney grill. 20% tint on 5 windows.

The Car is in overall great shape and is fast and fun. Synthetic oil change every 2,500-3,000 miles. Mobile One oil used every time. It does need a new suspension in front but the rear is still perfect, they are adjustable coil overs front and back. Rims have been through a few winters. Here is a list of new parts recently put in.

    • Control Arms
    • Control Arm Bushing’s (Polyurethane Bushings)
    • Ball Joints
    • Tie Rods
    • Rack and Pinion
    • Mid Shaft
    • Drilled and Slotted Rotor’s
    • Ceramic Pads
    • Wheel Bearings

This is my old BMW. If anybody has any questions about the build or specific pictures that the current owner can't provide please PM me. I can vouch that since he's owned the car he's taken very good care of it. Search my name on E30Tech and you'll find everything about it. Again, GLWS.

That is weird! I think its all stated in the for sale thread but it has just over 106,000 miles, no rust, and has the 4.0L straight six. There are some pics in the for sale thread but i can send u some interior ones if you give me your email.

Do you have any current pics of your car? Any rust? I was reading the build thread on it and was said on there that it hadnt been tuned, has it been tuned yet?

You know im not sure, i would run it past 91bmw318 he is the one that built the car. I know it says it somewhere in the build form. It needs new coil overs or put on some other type of suspension you would like. Everything else down there is less than 6 months old. Just didnt have time to do the suspension.

Well tfritz i think im gonna have to pass on the jeep. It looks great and would be fun but its a little to high for me. Thanks though. Steering rack was factory part but not factor installed but it was done in a shop. I got recites for everything i have done to the car. Even the oil changes (Mobile 1 syn)

Completely understandable it is a pretty big jeep. If you were worried about handling or anything like that with the jeep, it actually has amazing road manners and I have never felt like I was going to roll it. Thanks for the interest and good luck with your car.
