    1989 325i -- Good to buy?

Hey everyone, I have been lurking on here for quite some time now just waiting until I owned my ow e30. Anyways, this Craigslist ad just popped up and it really appealed to me. The car meets a lot of my criteria, but also leaves a lot to question. I am currently in contact with the seller and will be having a phone call around lunch tomorrow to talk.

My main questions with the car are recent maintenance, rust, known problems. However, is there anything else that I should ask about. Also, what are your general feelings about this car. I almost get the "too good to be true" feeling, but then again I dont own an e30.

    Here is the link:

In case anyone cares, my main criteria are no rust, manual, 325, few mechanical problems (car runs strong), well kept (recent preventative maintenance) and not bronzit or white.

I will keep everyone posted after I get off work tomorrow as to how the phone call went. Thanks for the suggestions/help and hopefully I can be an e30 owner in the very near future!

seems like a fair price, the engine will need a rebuild if he tracks that car with that many miles on it. >200k needs a lot of engine work.
        Much wow
        I hate 4 doors

SWEET! That is good to hear! Anyways, I am in contact with the owner although still no phone call. The seller is leaving the state Monday and is busy packing up so thats that. I am trying to see it as soon as possible. Seeing as I plan to have it for at least an autocross car, the car seems to fit perfectly. I dont except it to be perfect and am completely ok with working on it.

Oddly, I feel more motivated to buy this than the seller is to sell it. I'll keep you all posted.

Also, it had a top end rebuild lately, how much does that help out the 265k miles on it? Or is it necessary to do it again?

          Thanks!

Indeed, this was my old car. Awesome car, here's more info.

FWIW, I sold it to him for $2k, so I bet you can get it for same price. The mods listed in the CL ad aren't 100% accurate....check my thread.
