EDIT: Found one! Build thread to come...
After years of dodging the foreign-car bullet, I’m officially in the market for an E30 325. After scoping out Rally America's class rules, there's just no allowance for anything powered by a pushrod V8. So, here I am, looking for an E30 to convert for Rally America Group 2 use, which means I have unique requirments for a donor car. Here's the basics:
325is preferred, or 325i with LSD swap. No "e."
Engine must be perfect (no oil burners, low mileage is better)
Trans must be perfect (newer clutch would be good)
Must have functional LSD
ABSOLUTELY NO accident damage, rollcage work, or substantial mod to the unibody
Brake system should be good, can need pads
All glass must be good
Wipers should work
Suspension can need work (bushings, shocks, etc. will be replaced for rally)
Interior is irrelevant and thus should be crap (100% will be completely removed)
Tires and wheels can be crap (again, will be upgraded)
Paint can be crap (sweet spray-can graphics in the plan)
Bad A/C, bad radio, all OK
And no, I do not want to buy your rally or race-prepped car, partly because I enjoy the challenge of doing it myself and partly because I trust my work more than yours (no offense!).
I'm currently located in Albuquerque, NM, but could easily make a weekend trip within 500mi to include Denver, CO Springs, and Phoenix. I'll be keeping cash on hand, so if you have the right car at the right price I'll be able to act immediately.
Cheers!
