Note: I tried to post this on norcale30, but it keeps giving me error messages so I'm trying here since there's at least a little bit of overlap in membership.
Hello all, I'm officially in the market for another e30 to replace my dead vert. The old e30 was already built from top to bottom, so I'm essentially just looking for a clean titled shell as it'll just be receiving a newer set of almost everything.
Something along the lines of an 87 325i sedan with a snapped timing belt and/or bad tranny would be ideal.
I'll have about $700-800 to spend, and I'm looking to get this car asap, like this weekend ideally. I have a feeler posted for a Miller WAR / MAF tuning package w/ LC1 and gauge, I'm still on the fence about selling it but it could definitely be used here as part of a trade for the right car, should anyone be interested.
Requirements / Things I'm looking for:
-Clean title. I see no need to mess with a salvaged title given the plenitude of e30's out there, but if your salvaged e30 is really awesome I'd take a look at it.
-Coupe or Sedan, preferably the 4-door (say it with me now, "for ____ _____"). No convertibles, I rocked that for a couple years and I'm ready to be dry in the winter.
-A/C. Definitely not needed, but it'd be nice.
-No 318's, I don't feel like messing with smog crap when I put a 6 cylinder in for the same reasons I don't wanna mess with a salvaged title, but again I'd be up for taking a look.
-Suspension, drive train, tires, exhaust, transmission, etc., are completely irrelevant and preferably missing/broken (so I can pay less :P). Obviously I will pay up to my budget for whatever car I think is priced fair, but I'll just be selling the excess parts anyway (or they can be returned as well if discussed with seller ahead of time, and I pay less :P).
-No electrical gremlins, I don't need a functional wiring harness but I need everything else electrical to be free from issues.
-Exterior: Not really an issue, no rust, no dents larger than roughly a fist, body panels should be straight, no accidents, etc.. Oxidized / neglected paint suits me just fine, and color is near irrelevant. Again, I did the shiny zinno bimmer for a while, and monthly waxings and constantly agonizing over parking lot dings is just not worth it for the occasional smile from some pretty girl at a red light, imho. Send your ugly old bronzits my way please!
-Interior, again, not a real issue here as I have a complete vert interior to work with, and I don't mind making pick'n'pull runs to fill in the gaps. I would like an uncracked dash, complete clutch pedal assembly, and a working odometer, but they're not crucial.
I've got a free tow within 200 miles of 95670, and that's about the range I'm willing to drive as well. Let me know what you've got,
-Brett
