Up for sale is my clean 1991 BMW 318i, the 4-door twin to the 318is. Extremely rare non-sunroof "slicktop", & also has an original 4.10 limited slip differential. 2-door slicktops can be found, but 4-door versions are near impossible to find....especially with LSD! This car is in great condition & is mostly original with the exception of the upgrades mentioned below. It is a rust-free CA car, has 181K on the working ODO, & looks & drives great. It is AlpinweiB II over a black vinyl interior, here is a run-down of the car...
- Very strong original M42 16V 4-cyl, runs great & has zero leaks. Original 5-speed transmission, shifts great, no grinds.
- Very rare original S4.10 limited slip differential (LSD).
- Replaced in the last year or so... Radiator, hoses, belts, idle control valve, timing chain tensioner, valve cover gasket, fan clutch, all vacuum hoses & lines under the intake, front brakes, custom Magnaflow exhaust, shocks/struts/springs, front tires, etc.
- All common M42 weak points addressed...upper oil pan bolts checked & tightened, all vacuum hoses & lines under the intake manifold have been replaced, the timing chain tensioner has been replaced & all timing components have been inspected (look great).
- Passed CA smog with ease less than a month ago, registration paid until December, clean CA title in hand in my name.
- Dysilva Tech/MarkD 91 octane chip, great performance upgrade!
- Bavarian Autoworks sport springs & Bilstien sport shocks (rides/handles nice!)
- 15x7 Team Dynamics wheels with 205/55-15 high-performance all-seasion tires (fronts new, rears approx 50% tread left)
- Very well kept original interior in excellent condition, near perfect door panels & seats, beautiful dash (2 VERY small cracks that are hard to see), headliner, carpets, etc all in great shape. Has original BMW cassette sound system that works & sounds good, rare Husco console armrest/cup-holder, & all gauges work properly. All electrics work properly, heater is hot & the A/C blows cold!
- The body is solid, no rust or major damage anywhere, but it does have a fair amount of dings/chips/scratches. Overall it looks great from 10+ feet away, & the paint still shines very good.
- Comes with original owner's manual, & has a complete & original tool set. Also has alloy Bottlecap spare with with good tire, jack & tools all present.
The car does have a few minor issues, but nothing major. The OEM shift knob & boot have some slight tears, the rear center console section is a bit loose, there's a small crack at the bottom center of the windshield, the original 6-button OBC computer intermittently goes out, the trunk carpet is stained & dirty, both fog lights are cracked (work fine though), & the lower front lip is missing. Otherwise this car is very solid & doesn't need much, I have been using it as a commuter every day with-out issues. It is very fun to drive, has excellent power, yet still gets around 30 MPG on the freeway. I also own an 89 325i, it's amazing how much lighter & more nimble this car feels, & the power isn't that far off either! The combination of power, economy, ride & handling in this car is very hard to beat for the money! If you are looking for a sporty fun-to-drive 4-door commuter, why settle for a dime-a-dozen Honda or Toyota? Or drop an S52 in it for a light-weight track toy
I hate to get rid of the car, but I just don't need 2 E30's so this one needs to go. Asking $3800, possible part trade + cash for a 90+ Miata, PM or email with any questions or to set up a viewing. sportscarfinders at yahoo dot com, lots more pics available.
