WTB: 84-91 325 5 speed

Hey all.. long time lurker. finally created an account just to try and find my first e30. Formerly an e28 guy, and now all I have is a '73 R75/5..

But I'm looking to pick up an e30 in the near future. Looking for clean examples, with records of maintenance. Not looking for perfection, but something I can work with. No junk.

Musts:
5 speed.
not red.
not abused.

prefer:
4 dr.
black or neutral colors.
original.

I'm looking to spend anywhere from $3000 - $6000 depending on condition.

oh.. 325e is a plus too...

There is a heck of alot of cars FS here that fill those criteria, your criteria pretty much encompasses 90% of all E30s. And a 325e, especially an early model, can be found for a heck of alot less than $3k.

not abused and extensive service records may vastly narrow your choices, i hadn't thought of that! ;)

Yeah, I'm kind of looking for a nicer example, and I'm not married t having an e.. I have been looking for a little bit and thought my interests were specific enough to warrant a post.. but maybe i was wrong, either way i'll keep looking.

Welcome! Good Luck with your quest, the only thing that you may regret after finding the just right E30 is why you didn't do it sooner. = ) Don't get me wrong, I loved my E2 and still do. I'll keep an eye out in the Indy area.

In a perfect world I'd have an e28 and an e30 :)

Its a sickness falling for these beauties I think.

I have a lead on an '87 325e in nice shape. 13x,xxx, 5 speed. It's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for.

needs timing belt/pump, muffler, and a couple really small things.

Low revving engine isn't a problem for me, but does anyone have any reasons why the 325e sucks comparatively?

just read up on the E30 on wikipedia. It is common knowledge that the eta engine has very little power and it is slow.

yeah, i've read everything on wikipedia about it. I'm ok with not having a lot of power. my second to last car was a mercedes 2.2 liter diesel that barely did 70.. it was way sloooowwwweeerrr than any bmw i think.

I guess I'm just looking for other differences.. i read somewhere they don't have an obc, is there anything else they're missing in comparison to an i?
