F/S 1994 M-Technic 325is -- low miles, NICE condition, xenons, short shift, more....

Click the following link for detailed, nicely formatted information page with LOTS of pictures: http://home.comcast.net/~jay.snyder/mtech.html

    About this particular M-Technic:

I purchased this car from its second owner in June of 2002 with 76,500 miles on it, t currently has about 101k miles. It has been garaged-kept ever since, and with the exception of the first winter, mostly only driven in good weather. It has been an "extra" car for our household since August, 2003. This is quite possibly one of the niced E36 cars you'll find. It has all the great handling and looks of the M3 with 325is insurance costs and maintenance (M3-specific parts are typically 3-5 time more money than those for the "common" 325is).

    Condition:
The car is in excellent condition inside and out. The paint is in excellent condition. Everything works as it should, including the Air Conditioning and cruise control. All exterior light lenses, including fog lights are in good condition w/o cracks or pitting. The cars has the original 17" 2-piece BBS wheels, which are straight, but the clear-coat is failing on the rims. The wheels still look decent, but should be refinished if you wish to make this a show car.

This car is very well maintained and needs nothing. It has had yearly Mobile-one oil changes (yearly due to the low miles it gets driven), and bi-annual coolant and brake fluid changes. The differential lube was changed in 2001 by the previous owner (who I know personallly), and the transmission lube was changed to synthetic by me around 2004. The tires (Sumitomo HTRII) have at least 3/4 tread depth.

    Upgrades:
Because of the rarity of this model, I have kept in original condition, with the exception of a few upgrades (I have most of the original parts):

    Performance + Reliability Upgrades:
    • Turner Motorsport / Conforti Performance chip ( 211 HP / 201 ft*lb http://tinyurl.com/E36-chip )
    • UUC Motorwerks Short Shift Kit
    • UUC Motorwerks Aluminum Flywheel
    • M3 rear exhaust (removed from a 1999 M3 w/ 50kmi. in 2004)
    • Aluminum thermostat housing (to replace the OE crack-prone plastic one)

    Cosmetic Upgrades:
    • European Ellipsoid Projector Headlight assemblies (BMW OE made by Hella, with glass lens) with HID/Xenon conversion.
    • Clear turn signal/marker lens (BMW OE, not aftermarket)
    • European wide-angle heated mirror glass (have originals available too)
    • M3 lower air intake grill ( the original is also included, previous own put the M3 one on -- which I like better, so I left it on).

    Other:
    • Clarion Stero head-unit w/ iPod/USB interface (have the original, but the left channel doesn't work in the original unit)
    • Class-1 trailer hitch plus light wiring ( I used the hitch for a bike rack, and to occasionally tow a lightweight aluminum trailer with a kayak on it).
    • Extra air filter + oil filters included
    • Original spare tire is presnet
    • All tools are present in tool kit
    • PA Inspection through May 2012

    About the 1994 M-Technic 325is
In late 1993/early 1994 BMW Motorsports, in an effort to gauge the demand for its new E36 based M3 in the US, produced 150 highly modified 325is BMWs. Modifications included: M3 front spoiler, M3 Sport side skirts, M3 rear valence, M3 Mirrors, Motorsport door handles, and all were painted with BMW Alpine White III. Inside, the Motorsport Tri-Color Hurricane scheme suede and cloth seats and interior panels were accompanied with the M stiched steering wheel, M logo shift knob, the OBC, heated seats, and 200 watt premium sound system. Other Motorsport tweaks included 17" 2 piece BBS Motorsport wheels, and a limited slip differential. Some models optionally included the M3 rear spoiler and stainless steel exhaust tips. The end result was a car that looked just like the 1995 M3 that was eventually released, yet lacked the larger Motorsport 3.2L powerplant.

Great cars, used to own one. Those not in the know this was the testbed for the US market E36 M3's with only 150 units being produced.

I see you're not that far. Feel free to buy it :)
So what did you replace yours with?

It is bittersweet to let it go, but I gotta make room for the 330cic ZHP that is arriving a week from tomorrow! :D (wife says I can't keep 'em both).

My plan with the 330cic ZHP is to drive it and enjoy it as it is. It already has xenon's, clear turn signals (the clear turn signals are part of the ZHP package), and a little short shift than the standard E46. I'd like to maybe do a UUC short shift kit, but might not, because my wife didn't like it in the M-technic, and she'll likely drive this one more than she did the M-technic.

Ok, there are a couple things on the list. I will be removing the dreaded CDV (clutch delay valvle), adding an iPod interface, and I might do a shark injector, otherwise, I like it just the way it is!

As for the other upgrades on the M-technic, getting ride of the dual mass flywheel really woke up throttle response for rev matching. I did that upgrade, because the throwout bearing died (probably due to the first owner driving with two feat and letting his/her foot rest on the clutch). So, I figured, while I had it apart, might as well upgrade. I'd do it again for the ZHP if I ever need to have the transmission out for any reason (hope I don't have to).

It's easy enough to remove the hitch. It has allowed me to enjoy the car more, as I'm also an avid cyclist, and it holds my bike rack. No way I'd put a roof rack on this car ( one of the things I miss about my E30 was the rain gutters to put a roof rack on and off easily).

                      BTW, what is GWLS?

Well, it is still available. I had a serious buyer, but his job situation has changed, and so, he is not buying it.

This is likely one of the nicest, and most original-looking ones out there.

                              Rebump...

I never had one...this and the LTW's are why I got into BMW's at all..

I own way too many E30's or else I would be more intersted.
