its a retro mod. everyones started swapping back to metal bumpers over plastics. Plastic's make e30's look ghey like a prius, esp that MTech2 crap

Positive it is an 89... And positive it is the right pic. The car has an 88' front bumper.

It looks like an early valance was installed as well.. Probably the only e30 in the wrecking yard to scavenge parts from was a diving board car.
