    WTB: 1988-1990 325iS or 1991 318iS in NorCal-EAST BAY

Looking for a decent 325iS or 318iS. Must have excellent engine and 5-spd tranny. Don't need a garage queen. Mostly gonna be used to teach my son to drive stick and probably grind the hell out of it while learning. A/C cold, don't care if sunroof works but all door locks must work. Body must have no rust but minor dents or dings okay and clean title. Let me know what you have.

I know if this person can sell their car for this price, http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto/2656799745.html, there has got to be something else in the same range for a 5-speed.

Good Luck with you venture trying to find a 5 speed, that has a clean title, and AC that blows cold, and an excellent condition/running engine and transmission for $700. Def might be able to score something like that for roughly 1500-2k (pending on miles). My buddy just picked up a 4 door 5 speed 89 325i in stellar condition from an old couple in Los Gatos California for 1k so I guess its possible, but honestly that deal was one of the luckiest finds ever (it was in mint condition low mileage, they were just really old, and wanted it out off there garage). I'd try looking in the Los Gatos and Saratoga area, as there are allot of people I see who have them, as well as trying to sell them (in good condition).

I will say this, e30 is a great car for a young person to learn how to drive stick, and for the most part is a very reliable car.

Then there's the guy in San Francisco who was the original owner of a low mileage 1990 325iS in immaculate condition with everything working asking $2500. Then there's the guy in Walnut Creek who sold his 86 325es 5-speed for $800. They are out there.
I sold an automatic 1988 325iS for $2350 with crack free dash and cold A/C for $2350 to a guy who flew down from Washington to buy it before my son was old enough to get a permit. Mind you, I am not asking for perfect. I've had 4 e30's. The 88 325iS I sold I bought for $400 with basketball sized dent in rear quarter panel and bad tranny. Fixed the rear qtr panel with paint and clear coat and swapped used trans for total of $900. Total $1300 including cost of car. In fact, I bought it from a guy on this forum, Farmer. Don't flame me, but I think most guys overprice their e30's. They are too plentiful to be considered rare. Guess I'll start trolling in Los Gatos and Saratoga!
