History:
I'm the third owner since 2010 (second owner since 1991 was my father-in-law). Married 20+ years, so I've seen this car since it was nearly new. Original owner was his cousin, my father-in-law purchased from his estate after he passed away. The carfax shows an accident early on in its life (18 years ago). From 2000-2010, the car was rarely driven. . .averaging 1,000 miles a year. I acquired the vehicle not with the goal of making money, but to invest some TLC so that it would not succumb to the scrap yard. It's a relatively rare car (due to year, and model), and a total snow beast with the Blizzaks.
The prices are firm, but I'm giving the new owner some options to adjust by omitting some optional parts. If you can't afford these prices, then you can't afford to maintain the car. So I don't want to sell to you. The base car is a solid daily driver with very few of the major repair cost risks remaining. I'm selling because I own (4) e30 daily drivers plus a parts car. I need to pare down the fleet.
Here's the maintenance I've done to the vehicle:
Engine:
- Timing belt, tensioner, water pump, accessory belts, coolant, distributor, rotor, plugs, Bavarian Autosport premium wires, new cat-back exhaust [150k miles]
- throttle body heater gasket [158k miles]
- Overall runs strong, starts every time.
- Alternator and starter replaced by P.O., but mileage at service unknown
Drive line:
- Used transfer case (70k miles on tc) from Germany installed at 150k miles. Works great, no leaks.
- new guibos all around
- remanufactured drive (propeller) shaft
- new transmission seals at shifter input and output shaft
- new shifter linkages and bushings (shifts very tightly)
- new wheel bearings at all four corners
- new rear brake pads
- solid overall. As noted, the most expensive potential maintenance items have been taken care of.
Suspension:
- Completely rebuilt stock front suspension with used, good condition front control arms (from Germany), strut housings, tie rods, springs, painted with rust reformer. Repacked upper strut bearings, new wheel bearings (as noted above), new bearing dust shields (see photos).
- Nothing done to rear, overall everything feels tight
Body:
- Rust-free doors and trunk lid from Alpine White donor car (original lock sets cleaned, greased, and re-used).
- Some rust at the rear quarters, at the pass tail light, and behind license filler plate (shown on photos). This is the reason for the low base price. I have a rust-free rear clip that could be cut from my parts car for an extra cost (to be negotiated).
Interior:
- Excellent condition tan leather sport seats 8 out of 10.
- crack-free dash
- Used Motometer instrument cluster with working SI board (from parts car), with the original VDO speedo/odo guage and code chip. ODO still works, but the trip ODO stopped working about 2 months ago. I have the replacement VDO gears if you want them.
- Original radio still works
- Power antenna won't extend, but will retract (new mast, but the drive gears need replacing. . ..or just replace the whole thing). I simply pull it out manually when I want to listen to the radio.
