WTB e30 manual less than $4000 Santa Cruz

I am looking for a great running e30 manual trans. I prefer a sedan or coupe, but convertible will work too.

Stock ok or upgraded parts ok

Salvage ok, dents ok- not a total piece

I prefer very little rust.

Must be able to smog in CA

Location Santa Cruz

I prefer not to drive more than 50 miles from Santa Cruz.

I would also consider a 535 i or a good condition e36 manual only

Go to DeLavega motors over on water street and ask for Greg. He's building an e30 and may have some local hookups. He's a great guy.

The sad thing is, most of the e30s in Santa Cruz have been neglected and are rust buckets. I saw an e30m3 in front of the Catalyst awhile back filled with crap, and some homeless guy sitting in the drivers seat...sad.
