Hey guys, thought I would post this here. I know how you like M20s. Maybe your girlfriend who doesn't drive stick needs a car, or maybe you're sick of rowing gears in traffic and just need a plush cruiser. I don't know, there are always reasons for Auto. It's a nice car.
The time has come to sell my car. I hope you guys will appreciate a lot of the work and detail put into this car. Yes it's an Auto. If you live in LA that's not always a bad thing. A newborn and too many cars forces sale. Let me know if you have any questions.

1988 BMW 528e Super Eta
Alpine Weiss on Schwartz
Rust Free East Bay CA car
Clean Title
Passes smog, certificate good for 90 days.
Registration good through June 2013
UPDATES: Recent Maintenance
• 11/4 - New High Pressure Power Steering Hose
• 10/24 - Replace Spark Plugs
• 10/24 - Smog Test
3 owner car from the Pleasant Hill/Concord Northern California area. Garaged for pretty much it's whole life from what I was told. No sunbaked paint or interior. Car is incredibly reliable and CLEAN. Idles perfectly. Just passed smog. It was my daily driver for a 60 mile commute every day this year. There are lots of receipts going back to 2003 from the Previous Owner.
Notable PO maintenance and Options
• Timing belt done 35k miles ago.
• Replacement 4hp22 transmission. Car shifts very well.
• NEW Factory Bosal twin tip exhaust
• NEW OE BMW Driveshaft
• 3.46 LSD
I started on the interior and basically did an interior restoration. All electrics work, all windows, switches, every light bulb. All plastics nice, crack free, panels etc. Cluster has been over hauled. Even the D for drive lights up now.
Cosmetic
• Pristine crack free dash
• Freshly redone leather comfort seats with period correct leather (just a little over a year old)
• Euro Lights and Grilles. Fresh H4 bulbs.
• NEW Windshield
• Map light mirror
• Sport Steering Wheel
• 55% lifetime warranty tint from STM Song's Tint Masters.
I'm not a huge tint guy, but the car needed a little something for living in socal. It's just the right subtle amount of tint. STM is one of the best places to get tint in LA and they specialize in BMW. Han even got nostalgic working on my car saying he used to do these every day back in the 80s.
Audio
I spent a lot of time on the stereo. The PO had done some kind of ghetto mods. I usually don't take audio into account when buying a used car but I really tried to make it pleasing to anyone, factory style and stealth as possible while utilizing modern technology.
• Removed and redid all aftermarket wiring including running original factory antenna wiring complete with working Herschmann antenna.
• BMW OE front and rear speaker grilles
• NOS BMW rear speaker shelf. Very nice, no more blue carpet like in all e28s.
• Speakers are Infinity Reference 4x6 6432cf and 5.25" 5032cf
• SONY CDX-GT565UP Receiver with usb Ipod connectivity with Pandora app.
I always have a hard time putting a modern receiver in an old BMW, but I picked this one due to the single din layout with infinite color matching which looks similar to the OBC and matches the BMW amber color accurately.
Other Maintenance within 1 year
• E32 750i Front Big Brakes and Pads
• New rear brake pads 528e
• Ate SL brake fluid flush
• OEM Motor Mounts Hamburg Technic
• New low pressure power steering hoses and crush washers
• OEM Lemfoerder dogbone/pitman bushings
• OEM Behr fan clutch
• OEM Karlyn/sti plug wires
• K&N drop in
• 20w50 Valvoline VR1 Mahle or Mann filter
• OE BWM Trunk Gasket
Big front brakes are great upgrade, oil changed every 3-5k miles. VR1, high ZDDP. I did a valve adjustment last year with new rocker shaft plugs and gasket. May be time for another adjustment.
Mileage Unknown.
I purchased the car with a 7k cluster. Since the super eta only came with a 6k cluster I knew it had been swapped at some point. ODO currently reads 307k. Carfax shows 112k verified mileage since 1998. That leaves about 8 years unaccounted for. I would assume the car has around 180-200k on it. When you see it you will understand.
The A/C works but only for a couple days after a recharge. Other than the dogbones I had just started to get around to the suspension. It is typical of a 25 year old car. I have new subframe bushings, rear diff bushing, and trailing arm bushings if the new owner is interested. Two front control arms on each side are new but the other suspension pieces up front look original or over 10 years old.
I am also selling all the parts to convert to a 2.7i or e2i swap. I intake manifold, TB, injectors, FPR, AFM, I cam, dual valve springs, head gasket kit, timing belt etc, and 173 DME. If new owner is interested we can make a package deal with parts.
Car will come with the style 29 15" wheels in the photos.
This car is amazingly clean. It took me quite awhile to find a super eta Alpine Weiss on Schwartz that had been taken care of like this. I was planning on keeping this car and restoring everything but we had a kid, I bought a modern car and literally have no time for working on cars at the moment.
Just professionally detailed. Probably the cleanest white on black e28 for sale right now.
Call Allen or PM with any questions. Original Asking price $5500 obo
Price Reduced - $4800 obo
SOLD
