    1985 euro e23

I am selling my rare Euro 1985 gray market 745i with Executive trim package. I have owned this car since February of this year and to the best of my knowledge I am the third owner of the car. 225k on the working odometer, with records dating back to the late eighties. The car is in good working order, I drive it daily, but the car is 27 years old and not perfect. I will describe the car to the best of my ability.
    Drivetrain:
    · 3.4L M30 engine with stock turbo running 6 pounds of boost.
    · Engine in good shape, no leaks.
    · New radiator.
    · New alternator.
    · New power steering pump.
    · ZF HP22 automatic transmission with sport, economy, and manual modes. When in economy mode the car will not go into fourth gear. I have been driving it in sport mode for the last 2 months with no issues.
    Suspension:
    · Self-leveling suspension has been removed by previous owner.
    · New dog bones in rear.
    · New control arms in front.
    Brakes:
    · New pads, discs, and calipers.
    Wheels/Tires:
    · 18 inch ASA (licensed by BBS) rims
    · Currently running winter treads with a lot of tread left.
    · Stock OEM Diamond spokes from a mid ‘90s 5 series with worn summer treads can be included with sale.
    Body:
    · Florida car, no rust.
    · Paint is a 10 or 12 footer. Looks great until close inspection then you notice three small dents on front right. Spot on roof has orange peel effect. Back left quarter panel has small two inch spot touched up.
    · Does not have the Euro bumpers on it. Still has the American bumpers that put on as part of the federalization process. Side markers are on the bumper shroud, not drilled into the side of the car.
    Interior:
    · Overall good shape.
    · Headliner looks brand new.
    · Seats show minimal wear for age. No rips.
    · Driver seat needs electric motors replaced.

    European only options on car:
    · Buffalo leather seats.
    · Buffalo leather door cards.
    · Glass moon roof (electric and in fine working condition).
    · Burled wood trim including backseat ashtrays (I believe walnut but not positive).
    · Retractable window shades on both rear passenger windows and rear window.
    · Electric reclining rear seats.
    · Complete First Aid kit in rear armrest.
    · Headlight Wipers
    · Factory Car Alarm
    · Interior is labeled in German except for climate control which has been replaced with a newer unit that is in English. Speedometer was converted to an American unit as part of the federalization process when it was imported.
Price is $4500 or best offer. Send me a PM or email at shawn.wingard@hotmail.com. Thanks for looking guys!

hey op there is an e23 section over on bf.c i have an e23 myself, might be worth putting over there too, also that second key hole in the rear to the left of the plate is a rare oem "magnetic key" security system.

Thanks Hendrix. No matter how well I plan an ad I always forget things! I have the original key fob with the original key, the key for the glove compartment, and the magnetic key for the rare OEM security system. I played with it once to confirm it worked (it does) and havent used it since. I also have a spare key with the little light built into it (bmw not something from the keyshop). There is also a little red light on the drivers side door that lights up when the system is on. I also forgot to mention I have had the staff at a local independent perform all repairs and maintenance since I have owned the car. It is a really cool car, but I need to get back in an e30 (or maybe e36) that I can just beat the crap out of, track, etc.

I tried Google but I couldn't find too much info about this magnetic key security system.

Is this just a magnetized key with it's own keyhole that you can hide on the car? Or is it a security system that is armed with a separate key?

Thanks for the direction M-technic I have posted yet on mye28 or bf.c. I'll add bimmerboard to my list.

Default it is a separate magnetized key for the security system. The owner could "reprogram" the key by taking it apart. You can see the key hole for it in the pic of the back end of the car. I took a pic of the keys so you could see it today. The leather pouch is original to the car as well lol You can barely see it but it is embossed with the bmw logo. I also threw in a pick of the records that came with the car. I can not seem to find the binder of all the receipts under my ownership, if I can not find it this weekend I'll run down to the shop and get them printed out again.

Back on the market! Dropped the price a grand to 4500. Trades for a nicely sorted e30 will definately be entertained. Just replaced some sensors to fix a hard start issue. It's running great again and continues to be my dd like it has for the last year. This was one of two e23's at Bimmerfest East this past summer. Finding another e23 euro on the east coast in the condition or price would be hard to do! Pm- on here or e-mail me at shawn.wingard @ hotmail.com

                            Thanks fellas
