    F/S: Schwarz '89 E30 track car/race car (STL, MO)

SINCE POSTING, I'VE DECIDED IT'S IN MY BEST INTEREST TO GET THE CAR RUNNING BEFORE RE-ADVERTISING. I WILL UPDATE WITH PRICE ONCE I HAVE DONE SO.

This was my track car and DD from 2006 until 2009. In 2010, I had the cage completed and she has sat since. Very capable track car.

This car was not wrecked while in my possession and I never found any evidence of a crash from prior owners. I cannot remember ever seeing rust anywhere on this car (though there is surface rust on the bare metal front section of the cage and the wheels from sitting)

Pix (in chrono order from 2006 through now): http://flic.kr/s/aHsjxZzTH6

Since it has a beefed up M20 and tranny and diff, I was aiming at the only race series I could find to fit it in: NASA GTS2 or GTS3 (depending on ballast). Will not fit in SpecE30 or SCCA ITS (maybe ITE, but would difficult to be competitive).

The car doesn't run at the moment - partly because I disconnected a few wires (and likely the fuel pump in the process) and also probably because the fuel hasn't been changed since June of 2010 (didn't think to put Stabil in the tank because I didn't anticipate it sitting.)

I have all receipts since purchase - minus a biggie: the Metric Mechanic motor and driveline. I have receipts showing payment, but Court has not been able to write a detailed receipt as of yet. If you call MM and ask to talk to Court or Teddy, they will confirm my purchase. In fact, Court is in a few of the Flickr pics during the swap.

    1989 BMW e30 track car (formerly 325is)
    VIN: WBAAA1305K4205616
-Approx. 165K on body. An almost rust-free example. Used to be an upper Florida or northern Alabama car before I bought it from Kansas.
    -Clean title in-hand.
-Current weight: approximately 2,400-2,450 pounds with fluids. Just a guess since I did not weigh it after cage install/door stripping/removal of a/c.

    Motor:
-3.0L Metric Mechanic M20 Sport Rally motor installed 10/2008 by Court McKoy at MM. MOTOR IS NOW NON-INTERFERENCE!!!!!
-Big head porting, 3 angle valve job, beehive springs.
    -Bore x stroke: 84 x 86.5, steel crank (I believe crank is from an e36 328i)
-MM SPORT cam (from e36 325i)
    -Eagle H-beam rods. 135mm length, 510g each
    -24-lb injectors
    -Zionsville all-aluminum, increased-capacity, 3-row radiator
-custom D'Sylva chip tuned to motor. It was tuned thru MM by Mark D'Sylva. Not tuned specifically for the current exhaust, however.
-Purchased motor with approx. 35k street miles, added another 3,000-3,500 track and street miles.
-Ran wonderfully until I parked her after July 2010 cage install
-Dyno'd in 2009 or 2010 with rolling dyno output of 188 RWHP (no torque provided, nor am I sure of the settings at the time. I may still have the sheet, however)
-There is currently no coolant or water in the system.

    Transmission:
    -MM Getrag 250 close-ratio from e36 325i
-325e flywheel, countersunk, e36 M3 pressure plate. Can't remember if flywheel is lightened.
    -custom-shortened e36 driveshaft
    -custom MM shifter
    -approx. 15k miles on transmission

    Diff:
    -MM 3.46 LSD, 4-disc, variable lock-up
-Fresh: probably less than 1,000 miles on diff.

    Suspension/Steering:
-Struts/shocks, coilover assemblies, springs, and camber plates swapped in from another track car I had sitting for a while. I have not driven with nor adjusted any of these bits.
    -Coliovers with Koni Double-Adjustable shocks/struts
    -QA1 springs (unknown rates).
-camber plates (think they are Ground Control)
-1995 e36 M3 control arms (beefier ball joints)
-Treehouse front eyeball arms with delrin inserts
    -Powerflex poly rear subframe bushings
-I believe the tranny mounts are rubber (from a different model BMW, used with tranny swap-in)
-Ireland poly front anti-roll bar mounts and end links
-Ireland poly rear trailing arm bushings
-Ireland 25mm adjustable front anti-roll bar with spherical end links
-stock 325is rear bar (12-13mm, IIRC) with poly bushings
-AKG billet aluminum solid front motor mounts
    -AKG aluminum rear diff. mount
    -'97 Z3 2.8L steering rack, capped-off (no power steering).
-stock steering wheel from an earlier e30, but red suede MOMO wheel included.

    Exhaust:
    -MM ported exhaust manifolds
-HTP (Arnold, MO) custom complete exhaust, including: collector, 2.5" stainless tubing, Random Technology spun-steel catalytic converter, Magnaflow muffler (black hi-temp powdercoated).

    Brakes:
-stock rotors and calipers, except stainless hoses, fluid, and HAWK HT-10 racing pads (HAWK part# HBP195.640).
-I believe I installed air inlet backing plates behind the rotors
-Never a brake problem at numerous schools at Gateway, Mid-Ohio (135 down to 75 on the back straight), or Putnam

    Cage:
-All cage and custom fab work completed by Scott at Izzy's Custom Cages here in St. Louis. He is known throughout the Mid-West as a top-quality welder and fabricator and is also a NASA tech shop.
-6-point cage with dual NASCAR-style bars, 1.75" tubing, additional A- and B-pillar gusseting
-Additional custom welding and fab completed: seat mounts, rear shock tower brace, reinforced rear stabilizer end-link mounting points, aluminum gauge pods, sunroof filler, custom adjustable dead pedal, etc. $5,300 spent with Scott for all cage/fab work.
-Custom side rails made of 1" square tubing for quicker and easier jacking
-Ireland front upper strut mount bar, 1 piece round tubing - no breaks or joints
-RECARO Pole-Position fixed-back race seat in black
-Right (i/o port) and left (Scroth) side nets with mounts.
    -Longacre kill switch.
    -Door skins stripped.
-Relocated ECU to front of transmission tunnel.
    -Heater core removed and blocked-off

    Gauges:
-Innovate G5 air/fuel gauge with wideband O2 sensor
-Pair of SPA digital, double-readout gauges with senders (set to read oil temp, oil pressure, volts, and coolant temp.)

    Wheels:
    -six 4x100 15"x7" 5-spoke D-Force LTW5 wheels, e30 fitment, et25, 57.1 hub diameter, 13 lbs. 2 are new in box
    -front and rear wheel studs
-tires are Ventus RS2s and are several years old,, but function well as rollers

    Not installed, but included:
-Moseley Motorsports (UK) white fiberglass hood & decklid with one pair of Aerocatch top-mount hood latches and a pair of stainless Ford Motorsport standard-type hood pins with cables (Ford pins are unopened).
-Longacre wide-angle mirror with Longacre billet rollbar mounts
-3-piece aluminum pedal kit from AKG
-MOMO steering wheel - used but needs new MOMO hub adapter or steering wheel quick release
-OMP black with yellow lettering Hans 6-point harness - purchased new in mid-2010 from AutoWerke.
    -Large analog tach
-stock e30 hood and decklid (original to car)
-front bumper is off the car, but included.
    -Vorshlag lower front subframe brace
-pair of NACA front brake ducts with ducting hoses.
-additional convex mirrors, need to be mounted to cage

Much more. I have a detailed spreadsheet of everything I purchased for the car between when I bought the car in early 2006 and early 2009. Receipts for almost everything.

    Things the car needs:
-Doesn't start. I turned off the car after the cage install and parked it in my garage. The fuel was never stabilized, so it is bad and has likely gunked up the fuel system and injectors.
-Wiring needs sorting - removed some of it in late 2010 while stripping-down the interior. I think I disconnected the fuel pump, which may be a large part of why it doesn't start.
-Needs radiator and coolant temp. gauge hooked-up (gauge just needs to be re-hooked up). Since the car was for track use, I did not need a radiator and just ran water the last few times out. There is room for a slimline Zirgo slimline fan (I formerly had a Zirgo 16" 2700 CFM high-performance puller fan. Part # ZF16. There is currently no coolant or water in the system.
-No dash, except for custom aluminum pods attached to the front bar where the old dash was previously.
-Needs tires, but the Ventus RS2s on it are good for rollers.
-While the battery was disconnected most of the time while the car sat, I would consider a new(er) battery. It cranked perfectly last time I tried to start the car back in August 2011.
-No front windshield, front door windows, or left side quarter window. Right quarter window and rear window are intact. I had planned on using Lexan for the windshield, but I bought the wrong thickness for the front. I have a 4'x8' sheet of double-coated ("scratch-resistant") 1/8" Bayer Makrolon polycarbonate (same as Lexan). It may or may not be included in the sale based on whether a friend has purchased it by the time of sale.
-Newer front cage section (from main hoop forward) has surface rust that should be removed and painted. It's been sitting bare since July 2010, but it's been inside, so it's fairly light, IMO. From the main hoop back, it's painted black.
    -No fuel gauge.
-Hood and decklid need to be mounted. Stock mounts are no longer present for either. Sale includes one pair of Aerocatch top-mount latches and one pair of Ford Motorsport hood pins with cables (Ford pins are unopened)
-Rear shock mounts may need new inserts.
-No ebrake. Done to simplify, but it makes putting the car on a trailer and parking it a little harder. I can't remember if the line was removed or if just the lever was disconnected; I am thinking the line is still there.
-Before tracking, I suggest a full nut+bolt check and change of all fluiids. Probably a good idea to R+R timing belt, tensioner, and water pump. I'm pretty sure we did it in Oct. 2008, but because it's been over four years, I'd do it as a precaution to avoid the belt breaking from age. This is a non-interference motor, however, so it would not be a huge deal if it did snap.
-No headlights, though I think I still have all the lamps and mounting brackets.
-Slight scuff on right fender from when I scraped my garage.
-There is probably more, but not much; I've listed everything I can think of.

Price will be reposted once the car is running. This is a very solid car and it would take little time to get going well once the wiring is sorted. No trades wanted - just cash.

I will try to answer questions here to the best of my ability, so please don't hesitate to ask! Also, if you want more detailed specs on anything, I will try to help.

Please email me or call to see the car in St. Louis (S. City area).
