I mean, I drove from OKC to SB, SB to Pasadena (for B.fest 2012), and then from Pasadena down to SD and then back to OKC. We did the drive from SD to OKC in one go (24 hours of nonstop driving). Also, I recently drove from OKC to Houston and back without issue.
It would probably make the drive from OKC to Florida just fine. However, I make mention of the motor because while it does run fine, it is not a perfectly running M20. It has its moments and it is not for the faint of heart. It does like to get hot (a needle width over half way) if you are sitting in stop and go traffic on a hot day. If you don't kick on the heater, it might go higher. I never wanted to find out! In Oklahoma weather, it's a nonissue until the summer months roll around (100+ degree days).
A few points:- The HG is not blown.
- No coolant loss (either leaked or burned)
- The car has never overheated
I'm pretty sure the cooling system maintains pressure but I've never replaced the expansion tank caps or anything like that to be 100% sure. Yes, I've tightened the grounding screw on the back of the cluster. Maybe the cluster reads wrong, maybe it's a simple fix, maybe not. Who knows.
To be clear, the Chalkboard E30 is an ongoing project. I've done quite a bit but it still needs a lot of work to be a reliable DD. Take it for what it is.Comment

GLWS man! Ive actually been looking for a DD to buy, but it wont be until the end of the summer. Im sure the car will be gone by then seeing your price is pretty much a steal.
I really hope it goes to a good home.
EDIT:
Would you mind going into detail on what you did differently or what you created as your own blend of paint when you repainted again?
Im kind of curious to know. It might come in handy one day.Last edited by spike68; 03-23-2013, 03:22 PM.I don't even own this car anymore, but I'm too lazy to change the picture.

GLWS! I would love to buy this car, but I have to wait until summer and school is done. :(
I too am interested in your process of painting it. From your build threads, it looks like you used an air gun and then brushes to touch it up? But how did you do chalkboard paint with an air gun? So many questions!Comment
