Up for sale is a 1989 BMW 325i. This car has been heavily modified for AutoX events and track days, yet retaining street legal status.
The car was purchased 2 years ago in stock condition and I have made all modifications. The goal of the car was to be a lightweight track toy that can be driven on the street.
The car has about 187k and is a 5-speed manual with a stock motor and transmission as well as being equipped with a factory limited slip differential.
This car has been fully stripped and gutted, with the removal of the interior, sunroof, A/C, and power steering. The car then under went a full tune-up on the motor, including Timing belt, water pump, and valve train adjustment. The engine and transmission both mounted with solid derlin mounts, and the differential mounted with 90a bushing.
A complete replacement of the fuel system was completed, including a cleaned fuel tank, Walboro 255 fuel pump, new Bosch fuel filter, replacement fuel pressure regulator, and complete fuel line replacements (hard lines and soft lines).
The drivetrain and suspension is the focus of this e30. The sub-frames were both replaced with upgraded refinished units. All suspension bushings were replaced by polyurathane/derlin/solid bushings. I can explain what each part of the car has and plenty of stories completing the job.
The car has a rebuilt driveshaft, half shafts, and new rear wheel bearings. The front control arms, tie rods and strut tubes have been replaced. The car features adjustable front camber plates, and solid derlin lower control arm bushings. The rear of the car also has adjustable camber links and solid pillow mount shock mounts.
The car runs a Korman spec e30 race suspension setup. Including custom Front/Rear springs, with solid aluminum mounts. The car has custom valved Bilstein shocks from Korman to match. To complement the spring/shock setup the car has Korman swaybars with adjustable rear links, and poly front and rear swaybar mounts.
Braking is very important on a track car. So I replaced all 4 brake calipers with rebuilt OEM calipers, upgraded brake rotors, Stainless brake lines, and a complete replacement of the total brake lines. This means the Hard lines on the car from master cylinder to stainless flex lines. The brakes have AutoX brake pads and were bled with ATE super blue brake fluid.
Because of the upgraded rear subframe and total brake system I decided to go with a stand alone hydraulic emergency brake system. The rear wheels have additional Wilwood 2 piston calipers and a drift style handbrake with a Wilwood master cylinder and complete stainless lines. This handbrake can be used as an emergency brake, aswell as could initiate drifts if your into that kind of thing.
Inside the car are 2 Bride Zeta seats, with Sparco 4 point harnesses. The car has an Ebay steering wheel, and MOMO steering wheel adapter. The car still has working front electric windows and heater. I custom built a DTM style direct mount shifter with a spherical bearing and stainless lever. The lever is connected to the tranny by derlin bushings and a UUC stainless selector rod. This shifter is short, precise and has a AKG derlin shift knob.
The exterior of the car has been repainted and trim is either new or refinished. Because the car is a 1989 it has the more appealing plastic bumpers and I fitted a front lip + brake ducts. While I had the sub-frames removed I recoated the underbody of the car to inhibit rust.
The BMW rolls on TR motorsports 15x7 wheels (about 14lbs each) with Yokohama S-drive ultra high performance street tires in size 205/55/15. Perfect for AutoX
This car has more time and money in it that I am willing to admit. Keep in mind however it is a Toy car, and will need an owner that enjoys wrenching.
A project is never finished, although this car is pretty well buttoned up. Do not expect a show car, but a purpose built vehicle that will leave a smile plastered on your face.
Please respond to this listing, or call me at l-5o8-887-l442. I will not allow test-drives unless I have a serious buyer with cash in hand. $4000 OBO
