Up for sale is my E30 BMW 325is. 5-speed manual. I purchased this car last year and have done extensive work refreshing the mechanicals to make it a solid, reliable car. I have replaced the following
-Swapped engine for M20B25 (unknown miles) out of a 1990 parts car due to better compression numbers. All new gaskets throughout and all new coolant hoses. Does not leak a drop anywhere, runs great, pulls well.
-Clutch and throwout bearing (new OEM Sachs)
-replaced all fuel and brake lines, including upgrading to braided lines, rebuilt front calipers
-New CSB (center support bearing)
-AKG poly (75D) subframe and differential bushings
-M3 offset front control arm bushings
-Cleaned and painted both front and rear subframes
-New bushings throughout in the shifter linkage
-New input, output, and selector rod seals in the transmission
-Bavarian Autosport springs, Bilstein shocks
-Replaced the original 55l fuel tank with a 62l from a parts car (note, due to the fuel level sender configuration between the early and late tanks, the fuel gauge is not 100% accurate.)
-15x7 Simmons wheels
-The exhaust has been cut at the muffler with extension pipes welded on. It is quieter than you might think at highway speeds, no annoying drone, and sounds wonderful when opened up.
-Factory 3.73 LSD (I also have a 4.10 LSD as well)
I have driven this car approximately 2k miles since getting it back together this spring to weed out any potential issues. I have not had any. I have taken it to three autocross events, including one in Sioux Falls and the car performed flawlessly. Really fun car to drive, fairly tail-happy but controllable.
The dash is crack-free, the OBC works perfectly, as does the sunroof. The car has 174,xxx miles, and yes the odometer does work.
I also have a lot of spare parts that I took off a parts car. For the asking price, I will include the following:
-Spare M20B25 engine (ran pretty good, but had lower compression numbers. It's a good, rebuildable core, or run it as-is if you really wanted)
-173 DME
-4 E30 325ix wheels (15x7, but will need spacers to run on a 325is due to offset.)
-Front and rear subframes
-4.10 LSD rear diff
-Two rust-free doors and driver's side front fender (will need painted)
-Boxes of miscellaneous E30 parts taken from a parts car, including interior pieces, nuts, bolts, brackets, switches, etc.
-Rear window and side-window glass (note, the side windows on the car are pop-out; the spares are non-pop out)
-Extra steering rack
Probably other bits I am forgetting.
So what else does the car need? It is not perfect, it has several cosmetic and convenience flaws. The body is solid with minimal rust, however it is several rock chips, a few dents, and was lightly tapped in the back license plate frame area. It has a cracked windshield. The central locking doesn't work as it should, so the only way to unlock it is by using the trunk key. The stock Sport seats show some wear, and the adjustments on the passenger seat do not work very well. A/C has been removed, as has ABS. This car is not perfect, but major safety, reliability, and performance issues have been addressed. I would be comfortable driving this car long distances, and if you swapped to track pads and brake fluid, it would be a great little car for trackdays. Why am I selling it? Well, my automotive tastes are varied and I only have so much garage space. I'm wanting to start another project, specifically a first-gen (AW11) MR2. As far as trades go, that is the only thing I would consider. $3000 with extra parts, $2500 for car alone.
