I'm looking for a e30 325ix to be the winter companion for my 1984 528e. I have been scouring these forums for a while but haven't found one worth pulling the trigger on.
Ideally Id like to have a manual transmission, but I'm willing to consider autos as well. My main concerns are the usual with IXs and old e30s. The big ones are:
-transfer case/viscous coupling. Does it pass the jack test?
-driveshaft splines.
-FRONT CV axles
-Rust and/or body damage
-Timing belt
I'm pretty handy and have worked extensively on a 325ix my friend owns. One of my biggest concerns of the above is the rust level. Ideally Id like to find a 325ix that has a body with no or minimal rust. Although I'm located in CT, I'm willing to travel far for an exceptionally good condition vehicle.
That being said I would prefer to check out vehicles that are more near to CT in good shape even if they have some mechanical issues.
Thanks,
blight
