I'm assuming that since it's considered a classic, there's no conversion needed to register it in the states...?

Correct, cars 25 years or older are considered for Historic status. No emissions needed. If you plan on doing this you have to be weary, mileage on Historic status is much lower than that of a normally registered car, in MD at least. Then again, the mileage rule seems to be often overlooked.

Awesome. I'm sure somebody will be getting a deal...just saw a touring for sale in CA that was in the low 20K range. Hopefully it won't be the last we see of it.

Did you read the "payment will be wired into my german bank account". I would be hesitant on doing this.

I may be missing something here. Obviously it's ideal to pay cash in hand, but what's the problem with a wire transfer? Pardon my ignorance.

I said I would be hesitant. Ebay has buyer protection so you should be safe. But I have seen people get scammed before in similar situations. It almost happened to me once. Someone hacks an Ebay account, made a bogus listing, only takes wire transfer, they get your money and you get left with nothing. It comes back on the poor sap who had his account hacked. I am not saying, that this is a scam. I am just saying I would be hesitant.

registering it isn't an issue but in order to even get to that step....what about getting it federalized?

Does not need federalization, as it is a 1988 and is 25 years old, meaning it's a historic vehicle. No changes needed.
