    WTB: 325i/iS/eS Bay area

Its not for me, but my friend sold his G35 to get a e30 :D We've checked out 2 already, one had frame damage which wasn't in the ad (saw it when i crawled under the car) and the other was a POS with a none strait body and not passing smog (also not in ad)

    Looking for Preferred:
    *All Matching panels
    *White, Gray or Blue
    *i or iS
    *crack free dash
    *coupe

    Has to be:
    *rust free
    *majority matching panels
    *5 speed manual
    *Clean Title

show us what you got! No out of state cars please, trying to keep it local. Yes, LA is too far but if your out of the bay area some miles we would still be interested. edit: working odo isn't a "need to have", don't see why a enthusiast wouldn't have fixed i though.

    Thanks for looking

Sorry man - working odometer and real mileage is crack pipe requirements. Never gonna get it. And if you don't understand why, this is not the car for you.

the 2 e30's i owned had this along with smog paper work to back it up. On top of that if you read the full post, even the first sentence, you would have realized the cars for a close friend. In other words the "this is not the car for you" doesn't apply to me.

        +1

Also, I don't know why people freak out about the odometer. Its a 20 year old car.
You can tell by how it runs and the shape its in if its a POS or a solid driver. I just dont get it.

Reason why millage is preferred is i don't want my friend to get a 300k car with a bunch or carbon build up on the valves, pistons, ect. Open to all millages i guess, checked out 4 cars now for the asking price of 3k… I'm proud my cars leaks and rust free after looking at them.

You should know this all by now, and should therefore be able to advise your friend. But for those who don't know and are thinking about getting an e30, read on. If you want a well sorted e30 then be prepared to pay some real money for it. Or - do what I did and buy a basketcase for cheap and fix it. That is why this forum exists. I bet that if you had seen mine you would have walked right by. But this is what she looks like now.

Point is, the best case scenario is a 21 year old car. That requires some wrenching. Somebody who cares for their car has a bit of their soul in it. After a year of work, I'm not selling mine for 2 or 3K. Probably not even 6.

One that has problems is probably not owned by someone who cares about it. That's why it's for sale, and the two go hand in hand. Plus, most people who were beating them think that there is some gold mine for any POS e30 now, so the prices are going up and up. They think they can cash out. So call them on their crap, point out the list of problems and cost, get that price down, and start building.

My dad restored a 66 Mustang. People thought he was crazy when he got it because it was a mess. Now he goes to any car show and takes first place. Sure, people are throwing money at him now - 10's of thousands. He's never going to sell it. Wanting what he has is coveting. Don't covet - do it.

Completely agree with you. I did a bunch of work to my car to man, check out my build thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/show....php?p=3926484

My dad did 2 65' mustang restorations and has both of them too! All I'm looking for is a clean car for my friend, There's clean ones out there and that's what we want, a clean car to start with.

are you expanding your horizons beyond the bay?
i.e. socal and outta state dry climates like az, tx, & nm?

edit: just read your OP, good luck swooping one local.
it's getting harder by the month.
