I thought it was in September that he blew a headgasket replaced it drove a 100 miles and blew it again then I think he went and had it tuned by beefjurky's tuner friend and dyno'd at 466 at 26psi. I think he probably blew it again and just got tired I guess. Believe me the truck driver didnt joy ride in it I met this old man he could care less. I just look at the history with this cars issues and the high boost and paints a picture pretty clear.

Just make sure to get the head check for warpage since you stated before that the temp gauge was going over into the red. Im sure it was there because of the combustion gases in the coolant system but better safe then sorry. Use a genuine head gasket not these aftermarket junkers. If I remember correctly that block has SS orings which im a big fan of...I haven't had any issues with mine "knock on wood".
Other then that just clean the block deck as best as possible for good gasket sealant torque those arp studs to 90ft lbs in the CORRECT SEQUENCE and i'm sure everything will be alright. Definitely turn down the boost to play it safe and keep an eye on the AFR gauge make sure your around 11/12:1 under boost and you should be good.
Any ?'s just ask or pm me and ill help you out as best as I can to my best knowledge. Good luck
Beefjurky, thanks ive followed your build thread for quire some time....Awesome car ! I'll get her running again. Monday we are pulling the head and see what we find. Firebird and squid I appreciate any help...im not familiar with megasquirt....he didnt tell me what version he had or anything. So im in the dark. Im gonna start by simply lowering the boost to about 10lbs or maybe 15lbs and be happy with that until I can get it to San Antonio to get it tuned properly. I do know he had it tuned where you tuned yours beefjurky so I believe the tune might be fine....maybe he just got a little over excited and set boost way to high just as you said. Will find out...

Thanks bmwmaniac gonna look for it. I asked him specifically if the car was 470hp to the wheel or crank he said it was to the wheel. I looked at original post when he is selling and he has a picture of the dyno but is says flywheel on the graph software...? So what is it ?sigpicComment

His post in this thread says he is using Megasquirt Version 2 as a stand alone. Should not be too difficult to find the box, and I suggest you do some googling about this version to understand its capabilities and how it works, etc. It's a good system. Did he give you the cables and software?Beefjurky, thanks ive followed your build thread for quire some time....Awesome car ! I'll get her running again.
