I have a very nice 1997 VW Golf that's only had two owners and both have maintained this car very well and it shows. The car has 176k miles and is almost rust free with an automatic transmission, has newer Michelin tires, good brakes and suspension and runs great. The car is bone stock and unmolested and unmodified, only after market items are the new hubcaps and a pioneer headunit. Everything seems to work great and the paint shines up very nicely.
As I mentioned the engine starts idles and runs wonderfully. The only negative is that the cel is on from the tcc (torque converter) which seems to be sticking so when the car is cold it will want to shutoff when put into gear because trans has trouble going into gear. After the car has been warmed up though it runs and drives great and you wouldn't even know there was an issue. Trans may just need a service or possible replacement.
This is a very nice car and would be a perfect driver or candidate for a Vr6 swap etc.
Asking $1500 obo for a quick sale. Come see the car and drive it and you will see how nice it is.
