    WTT: PRO3 Racecar for M3

    Interested in Trades

I have a recently finished PRO3 car. Car was completed this summer and ran 3 events in the northwest. As I have relocated for school I am interested in moving on to other projects. Car is in Seattle, WA.

Looking to trade for e30 M3. I value my Pro3 at 12k-ish, have had it pre-sold above that and below that before both backed out. So I think the price is reasonable. Obviously e30 M3 prices being what they are, im not looking for an award winning car. S14 would be preferred but is not required. I can do a little cash on my end or a little on yours depending.

While this car ran races flawlessly this summer, it could use a little TLC over the winter. Perfect for the shade tree mechanic not looking to spend the money it cost me to build the thing in the first place.

    Info on my Car

    1984 325 shell
1989 M20, rebuilt head, and reconditioned bottom end (OEM)
SCCA IT spec roll cage by Dave Clark (now with Alex Job Racing)
GC Race/track Coilover kit on S/A Race Valved Koni's
OMP HTE Seat, 804 harness and Wheel
    4.10 LSD
All poly or solid mounts, solid CAB's
    Every suspension component was replaced
Every braking component was replace (other than hard lines)
    Transmission was refurbished
Couple sets of wheels and some extra tires
more spares such as gasket kits, misc parts etc.
if you are serious i have more information i can send you.

No doubt for a good example. I've seen high milage examples with S50's go for 15, so i figure one that's a little beat that's been sitting in someones garage gathering dust is my best bet. Like I said, I know how the prices are, and have a good idea what a 12k M3 looks like. Im looking for a project, not a daily.

I'd be open to a rolling shell possibly. Just testing the waters.

I think you are totally unreasonable. You may have invested 12k in your '84 but realistically its worth maybe $5k top. Every time you custom the car for specific class of racing you reduce its value. Now you got to find some E30 enthusiast who has thrashed M3 and who will trade for your '84 pro race setup car. To me this is totally unrealistic because there is nothing special about 1984 and nothing special about M20. There are BMW enthusiasts who will pay top dollar for thrash M3 shell, just because of the collector value.

HAHAHA spoken like someone who has no clue what they are talking about. In the PNW Pro3 cars go from 12-30k i'd say an average sale price of 18ish. Its a race car not an e30. I didnt put 12k into it, it was a hell of a lot more than that.

Our "Specific Class" is booming, with some races fielding 40 PRO3 cars and providing some of the most competitive amateur racing in the U.S.

Just like there may be enthusiasts willing to pay for a shell, there are racers willing to get a pre-built car.

Thanks for your opinion though, really appreciate it.

what is thread bashing? see above for definition.

GLWS OP I'd love to get into a Prepped car but way out of the funds range right now.

              That's your best bet.

I'd trade if you wanted to put 15k on top! Ha

It must be the chevy red orange rattle can paint that makes that M20 so valuable. So it is straight trade bro

Good thing I didn't go for the gold, then he'd have to pay me! But seriously, race cars =/= market pricing for street cars. I'm sorry you feel I'm unreasonable, apparently I was mistaken when I expected more out of this forum community. You dont know the PRO3 marker or how much it costs it costs to build and what one sells for. I'm sorry you're so bitter. The fact of the matter is the racing community (for the most part) isn't a punch of kids jizzing over cut springs and $2,000 wheels. It's a different crowd, so I figured I'd put a feeler out, see if anyone had been thinking to themselves "man I really want to go racing but don't have the time to build a competitive car set up for a super competitive class." You never know. Once again sorry I tore your moral fabric when you decided to click on a post and offer your opinion when no one asked. Good luck in all your endeavors, you're clearly a wonderful person.

Does your tach work? Doing later m20 swaps result in a none working tach.
