I have a 1988 BMW 6series 635CSI that I am listing for a good friend of mine. I have the vehicle in possession but do not hold the title at the moment. Once you are happy with the car we will have all paperwork ready and she will be assist with the purchase of the vehicle.
California smog has been passed on 12/24/13 and the vehicle carries a clean title that checks out both in CARFAX and AUTOCHECK. No accidents have ever been reported and all body panels match.
It is in great shape for the mileage on the odometer (298,212 miles) but I have been informed that the previous owner has done a rebuild on the engine. I understand that this is a high-mileage car but it works both ways. a 150,xxx vehicle will need a lot of repairs fairly soon as it is hitting that point where parts will start breaking. A vehicle with 300,xxx miles has gone through most of its parts once so it is most likely in decent shape if it hasn't been abandoned already.
And personally knowing the owner, I am absolutely sure she took good care of it from 2004-2013. The vehicle passed california smog with no alterations/adjustments. The values were extremely good and I will provide paperwork in person. She will also be providing all previous maintenance paperwork regarding this vehicle.
Given its age, it has a list of things that would need to be fixed in order to be in 100% working condition. But as of now it runs/drives perfectly fine. Here is the list for potential buyers. Please don't be alarmed by the length of this list, she just wanted to make sure she covered everything.
The windshield has a chip in it. Last I recall, it would cost $40 the prevent it from spreading.
The thermostatically controlled heating and cooling system . . . isn't.
There is a major leak in the power brakes-and-steering system.
The passenger side sun-visor mirror is cracked.
The driver side door pull door handle is coming loose in the front, and has some scuff marks.
The passenger side door lock and handle needs to be fixed, and the upholstery put back.
The driver seat back is scuffed.
The driver seat bottom has a tear . . . really stitching that unraveled.
The fuel injection air flow boot should be replaced with a more air-tight one.
The black paint on the rear deck-lid is sun-damaged.
The black paint on the roof is sun-damaged.
The trunk-lid tool kit is missing -- not just the tools, but the container too. It looks like it's the same size as a BMW 535i.
The "635″ part of the rear trunk-lid badge has fallen off. I have it, but it needs to be glued on.
The wiper fluid is low.
The wiper blades need replacement.
The computer display is in German and metric.
The outside air temperature sensor is broken or missing or disconnected.
The air dam is missing. I have a replacement but I need to paint it black and put it on.
The sunroof at some point didn't open and close correctly. It's OK now but it might need lubrication or servicing.
The rims need BMW logo wheel caps
The BMW logo on the trunk lid is faded.
The hood struts are barely able to keep the hood open.
The rear bumper rubber is damaged on the passenger side.
The plastic or rubber bumper surrounds seem warped, probably from the Nevada desert sun.
The instrument panel back-lighting doesn't work.
The radio code needs to be re-set.
The shift lever leather surround is torn.
The shift lever knob leather is worn.
The steering wheel leather is worn.
The SRS warning light is on.
The driver side rear tire needs to be replaced.
The coolant warning light came on.
Like I previously mentioned, the owner does not want to hide anything and she is all about being transparent. The body is strait with no rusts that I could visibly tell. I checked the battery tray, frame mounts, and other possible places. No cancer here ladies and gentelmen.
