    Sold

Asking price: $2000 OBO. Looking to trade for an E30/36/46 vert, any color but red, with a 5-speed, all other details negotiable. Can add cash as well.

    Hi everyone,

I've been using this car as my DD for about 2 years now, and there are just too many issues with it now for me to address with my work schedule. It's a 9/90 production 325iX, 4-door, 5-speed, sunroof, Sterling Silver exterior, black interior. It has 165K on it, but current odo only reads 143K since it's on the fritz.

First off, this is not a daily driver anymore. There are a number of little things, and one big thing - I am losing about 25% compression in Cylinders 3 and 4, and it's noticeable enough that going uphill under load I can feel it hesitate and jump. So, plan on at least pulling it open and swapping rings/honing/possibly replacing the motor. It could be a candidate for parting out except that I am too damn stubborn to give up on something when it's well past financially sensible to fix it up.

    The Good:
-All driveshafts, the Viscous Coupling, and all CV joints are top notch. I just replaced two of the CV boots and had all 4 outer joints inspected and lubed about 6 months ago. The AWD system passes the jack test, and I have used it to pull our Jeep Liberty out of a rut with no problems.
-Intake and valve cover gasket bead blasted and painted.
-Valves adjusted and spark plugs replaced in August
-Timing belt was done about 15K miles ago.
-Fuel pump and fuel filter replaced with new OEM parts in August.
-Replaced heater blower and resistor pack in October
-No cracks in the dash, seats in decent condition.
-Wiring and switches in place for heated seats, but the front seats were trashed and I replaced them with unheated late-model Coupe front seats.
    -Oil and fluids changed regularly.
-Brake calipers and pads done in August, with fluid flush.
-Style 44's with 8 month old all-season tires, including spare, with less than 5,000 miles on the set.
    -Has a full OBC
-Rebuilt both doors and trunk lock cylinders with BMW kit, key works flawlessly now in all 3 keyholes.
-Ellipsoid headlight assemblies with Sylvania Silverstar 9005 and 9006 bulbs, and includes a DDM 35W 9006 5000K setup of bulbs/ballasts if you want to swap it in.
-A good amount of extra parts if you want them.

    The Bad:
-Engine has a loss of power that is getting more pronounced. Cylinder 3 and 4 are losing about 25% compression.
-Shocks/struts all around and swaybar endlinks should be done. The tie rods may need attention too, they were fine this past summer I haven't gotten to check them this season.
-Gas gauge and speedometer/odo are not functioning. I have another cluster that is supposed to be good but has the same issue.
-No radio, and I believe the wiring needs attention before it can be used.
-Reverse lights stop working intermittently, just started happening and I haven't looked into it.
-Hood release handle snapped off so I need to use Channel Locks to pull the hood release
-Engine leaks oil from the drain plug hole. It was stripped out and Helicoil'ed before I got it, badly. I took it out, cleaned as much as I could and put some JB Weld on it as a stopgap.

    The Ugly:
-Driver's side front fender has rust damage at the bottom rear of the panel. See pics.
-Tail panel ought to be replaced, PO cut it up and I did a terrible job of reattaching it with Bondo and fiberglass tape. It's on, it's not pretty but it is watertight and passes inspection. I have a complete tail panel cutoff with some quarter panel meat that you can take with the car.
-A good amount of the underbody plastic and some interior pieces are removed, but included. I have most of the fasteners but you'll likely need a few nuts and bolts since I moved between starting this project and now and may have lost a few bits.
-Rear tow hook mounting rusted out and is missing. Metal underneath needs a little work but looks structurally sound for a new one getting welded on.
-HVAC Panel had issues. I have another complete HVAC panel with no cracks and faceplate, but I am missing the little metal clips that hold the cable end caps in the harness in the back. Parts are available from dealer for about 2 bucks.
-Sunroof is sticky, especially when cold. I need to get out of the car and manually help guide it into place to close it fully. It does seal completely and is dry inside once closed.

Pics available at https://plus.google.com/photos/10851...84504612323537 - car is located in Worcester, MA and I work from home a few days a week so I can show you the car. It's insured and registered, I need to go back and get a fresh inspection sticker Monday and I can let people test it.
