I picked up my really clean 90 325is for $2600 with perfect black leather interior and no paint issues and good running condition, working heat and AC also, heated seats, all the good stuff.

Not really, no. But it's something worth checking out if possible. Getting a look at the teeth of the sprockets on the camshafts helps. Also any rattling sounds can maybe indicate that sort of thing.
