A business near me was showing me an 86 es the owner had bought off an old lady who had upgraded, it had only 94,000 miles on it. However it was an auto and I wanted a 5 speed. This shop is pretty well known in my area and I didn't have the tools to do the swap myself, so I asked him what it would cost to put in a 5 speed. He quoted $1900 including labor and if parts could be salvaged. I determined it would be cheaper to pay more for something that doesn't need to be changed than to do the swap. I guess it all depends on the car and what you're willing to spend.

yeah, i see what you're saying. thanks for the info man! i always see nice e30's for cheaper because of the automatics but like you said just depends on car and if it is worth it. thanks for answering a very vague question.
