SOLD
Wife says we have too many cars. She also said if I sold three I could get what I want. So I sent her a picture of a 911! (actually a nice Z3 would work)
(the other two cars are an 03 Acura MDX, and a nice 88 325ix, the latter of which I am not ready to sell)
Anyway, I bought this vert almost 3 years ago and did a fair amount to it, but like any 25 year old car, always could have something. I drive it daily, along with weekly trips to Syracuse or Buffalo (about 160mi round trip).
It is an automatic
The Good:
Just passed NY State Inspection
New wheel bearings (LF,RR)
New timing belt, water pump, a couple hoses
New Cylinder head, gasket, valve adjustment
New front brakes and rotors
New rear parking shoes
New rear shocks and mounts
New center bearing, guibo joint
New thermostat
Newer battery,
Newer Top with clear plastic window - NO LEAKS!
Newer support struts on lid
Heated seats
Extra pair of bottle cap rims
Newer wheel centers with BMW logo
87,500 miles on engine, trans
New spark plugs
New air filter
125,000 on body (previous owner said odometer was replaced and rolled to match engine - I don't get it, but Im just passing that info along)
All fluids changed (brake, coolant, oil, transmission, differential)
Originally from California - little to no rust
Crack free dash
Replaced instrument panel
No split in rear seat like most BMW convertibles this old
Modern stereo with CD and detachable faceplate
Ellipsoidal halogen lights (special option)
Limited slip differential
The Not so good:
Usual scratches and dings that accompany a 25 year old car.
Small dent in right rear corner, near tail light
Small dent on front fender arch
Some minor paint discoloration in spots
May need front struts (I have new ones in box)
Minor oil drip
Driver's seat leather very worn (though better than quite a few that I have seen)
Air conditioning not working (does it matter?) - the auxiliary fan does not work at low speed (only high) - this indicates a new resistor is needed, and possibly a cause for the a/c not working. THe high speed kicks in if the temperature hits the 3/4 mark, as it is supposed to
Power antenna not installed - mast is stuck, and needs new grommet. Reception is fine without it
I prefer to sell locally. $2895
