    Feeler - 1987 325is ~5.5k

***UPDATED- Check out the bottom of the post***

I've been contemplating whether or not to sell my car lately. I think I'll end up selling it at some point this summer, and I'm curious what people think its worth.

    Information:
    Model: 1987 325is
    Interior: Black
    Exterior: Bronzit
    Miles: ~172k

    Exterior:
The paint is in very good condition, but has some faults. There is a little bit of bubbling on the rear spoiler. There is spiderwebbing on the drivers door. The front spoiler has chips in it. The windows are professionally tinted with a lifetime warranty

    -Interior:
The interior is in good condition. The leather is still soft and there is the standard hole on the drivers side bolster. The dashboard is cracked. The odometer stopped working a week ago when I reset the trip meter. The driver's side key hole is jacked up in the sense that it doesn't work.

    Mechanics:
The input shaft bearing on the tranny makes a little noise. The engine runs fine. It runs great from cold to hot and always starts. It needs a few little things to make it run really great (ie exhaust gaskets).

    Modifications:
    -Bilstein Shocks
    -Bavarian auto Springs
    -1.9L Z3 shift lever.
    -Clutch Stop
    -Bavarian Auto Perfomance Chip
    -Tucked Bumpers
    -Kosei K1s 15X7 with Yokohama ES100s
    -Super Sprint Cat Back Exhaust

I'm putting my estimated value at 5,500. I'm curious what people think its worth even if they aren't interested in the car. If someone is seriously interested in buying it, I'll entertain the idea.

Here are the standard photos I like to throw around:

    Edit-
I bought another e30 today, so I'm officially phasing the bronzit out. I plan on keeping the exhaust, but pretty much all the other mods can stay on if people want them.

As a correction, the interior on this car isn't as bad as people seem to think. It's pretty good. If you're interested, check it out yourself.

The car isn't perfect as some people have pointed out more than others. Even so, its a foundation to be a savage early model if it isn't already one. Considering peoples comments, my new working asking price is 4500 dollars.

I fall under the "not interested" category (not the right car for me). But my 2cents on the asking price: Maybe lower your asking price to $4500. Bronzit + higher mileage + early bumper car + interior might be a tough sell.

oh wow. i love the color combo plus the wheels. the condition is great minus the interior but the sad reality is that most would rather pay that sort of price for either a mint low mile early style or a plastic bumper'd car. 5500 is on the higher side of things.

I agree with you. Everyone now and then I find guys who prefer early models.

The wheels are 15X7 and i think the tires are 225/~55/15s

The car is Bronzit you guys. I always love posting those pics and seeing people argue.

Car looks awesome on the outside... inside could use some spiffing up. Not sure about the price...

Look I am not trying to rain on your parade, but 5.5 is too much. I don't think I could sell my car for 5.5 and I have the same mileage as you. Everything in my car has been redone, it is in perfect running order, the paint is about the same, but my interior is in better shape. Unfortunately for me I will NEVER get the money and time back out of mine! I would say 3.5 at the most unless you get someone with a college kid who had one of these cars in the 80s. Just my opinion. the seats alone are gonna have to be re-skinned. The dashboard cracks would steer me away, just because I know it's a bitch to fix. Door locks and odometer will need to be sorted out. it is a real nice car, do you have any engine shots? Do you have records and proof of upgrades on paper?
You want my advice? (probably not but here it is anyway) Spend the money and reskin the front seats, you can do that for @ 400 in vynil. Fix the odometer gear, remove all your plastic trim, clean it and repaint it with that fusion paint, fix the key problem with a new tumbler or the omega reaserch keyless, and figure out the input shaft. Biggest seller to me is the color combo! If you fix these things it will probably cost you @ $600, but who knows the car will be almost perfect then.... the 87 IS isn't an easy car to find in good condition. People would pay that if you straightened out those little things. Go on ebay and see if you can find a set of seats for cheap, or buy those cool covers they sell. To me the interior is a deal breaker. If all your rubber underneeth the car is solid, then the interior is all you really need to worry about as far as a large project. Oh and why don't you have chrome inlayed into you door moldings??????

I'm interested in hearing your opinion. A big deal for me is trying to decide what to fix before I sell it.

I think the fact that I'm in Southern California and that it's always been there gives it a big price buffer. I think I'll take a few of the mods off and sell them seperately. When is all said and done I think I'd be happy with 4k.
