Non-running - I bought this from a guy in Los Gatos, CA
who blew his timing belt. He gave me a spare new head
gasget, new timing belt kit, and used 325e head which I am
also including. He told me he blew his timing belt
upon morning startup, so it is possible (although not
very likely according to Rich V) that there is
no damage to the head --in that case with a timing
belt you would have a running car. On the other hand,
if it needs a replacement head, you have it. I was going
to try and learn to do this myself but with 2 young kids
and working like crazy it just hasn't happened. Now my
wife wants the car off the driveway ASAP.
The Good -
-Clean title - I will pay the CA $89 DMV fee for this year-you
would need to handle smog once you got it running. Old Carfax avail.
-Has 4 brand new Bilstein HD shocks, worth retail $400.
-Has 4 chromed bottlecaps, cosmetically challenged
silver weaves available for $100 extra.
-Manual tranny.
-Has the Urethane es spoiler, worth $150-$200 alone since
BMW no longer makes this part
-Has the OBC intact, Radio intact, Glovebox works.
-Rust free (save very minor surface rust in the trunk).
Very clean looking underneath-way better than my car.
(I was going to trade out the subframe/trailing arms with
mine but it was too much work)
-Old/Early style tail lights (which most people prefer)
The Bad -
-Looks fine from the side but major oxidation on hood, roof.
-Front left fender has a scratch and a ding (the original one
is now on Erik325i's car-but you can get them from a picknpull).
-Trunklid non-original and has flat black paint & some spoiler
mounting holes-may need to get a trunklid.
-Steering wheel is the non-es model (the es on is in my car).
-Interior is pretty shot, with cracked dash. Floppy air vents.
-Various front seats available sport, non-sport models in burgundy
cardinal rot, or black, all shot/ripped.
-Cluster has working gauges (painted red) but odo not working.
-Roundels need replacement.
-Fogs are not connected up and one fog is cracked. Spoiler not
entirely hooked up (will need to be screwed on).
-Leak in left rear light has let some water into the trunk (now
cleaned up)
-The exhaust is off the car right now, and this exhaust got
me through smog, but the oxygen sensor is missing.
The price is the R3Vforum price, negotiated with a member
who was going to get it running to become a daily beater,
so I am offering that to everybody here. The price is firm
at $400 because I need to pay the $89 DMV fee out of that
too, and otherwise it would make more sense just to part it
out. The money raised will go into repairing my running E30's
driveshaft and finally getting some front sport shocks and
lowering springs.
Please PM me or send me email at mhecht@sonic.net
This is Bay Area. (If you need to fly/drive in you can crash
at my place although it would be on an air mattress in the family
room.)
Here are the pics. Due to the fact that it was getting dark,
these pics make the car look a little better than it is - the
oxidation on the hood and roof looks worse in person.
